Well, when I was still a little girl in a kindergarten, I wished that I could become a teacher. When I entered a primary school, I still have the same dream to become a teacher. At that time, to be a teacher meant you would have a life without any worry.

Now, I′m a middle school student, but I still treasure the dream to be a teacher. As I am growing up, my reasons have be-come more meaningful. Now I think teachers are really the engineers of human soul. They teach us a lot, not only knowledge but also how to be a good man of the society. Every year in our country thousands of teachers send millions of good students to various parts to work for our country, which helps to make our country stronger and stronger.

梦想能撑起别人的一片天，就像当初的路一样。而自己当初的路，又会是什么呢？一个梦想能带给拥有人幸福，一个梦想能带给拥有者快乐，那这可曾有不是一件快乐的事呢？

小时候以为自己的瘦小，总是被别人欺负。于是我最当初的梦想就是当一名警察，想象着终有一天将欺负过我的人绳之以法。很单纯，很天真，不是么？但这个梦想终究没怎么坚持下来，尽管如此，我还是一如既往地想变强大，有常常满足于自己的强大所带来的快乐。梦想能撑起别人的一片天，给别人动力与希望。这句话用别人的话来讲，便是：梦想能撑起自己的一片天，给自己动力与希望。

长大后的我喜欢讲故事，但每个人不论“脑容量”有多大，也会有被爆满的一天。于是，我开始了创作故事的道路。这条路很艰辛，因为走这条路所需的“脑细胞”很多，每当感觉自己扽细胞快用完时，往往才创作出那么一小段。不过我终于还是成功了，那则故事虽不长，但它毕竟凝结了我大量的心血啊，完成的那一刻，我很开心，也很兴奋。

当六一合唱队要进行大排练时，我被老师选上了当合唱队地一员。从此每天下午我们都进行排练，老师还教给了我们一些演唱的基本技法，以及合唱时怎样站，手、脚都怎样放，我都一点点记在心里。尽管是大合唱，我还是认真地演唱着每一句歌词，记住每一个旋律。因为我知道，合唱队赢得热烈的掌声里，也有我的一份功劳，因为我知道，我正在向着梦想努力。

Since the first day of my winter vacation, I’ve decided to make it a

valuable and enjoyable one. I made a plan to finish my homework within the first

week, and after days of hard working, I actually got all my assignments done a

day earlier. I am pretty proud of myself for not —as usual —hang out with my

friends until the last few days of my vacation and rush through my homework.

In the rest of my winter vacation, I made up my mind to improve my reading

skills. I’ve had tons of books that I simply bought and put them on my shelf,

wishing some day they would be finished themselves. But this time, I realized I

was not trying my best last term and decided to make some change. I finished a

couple of novels and watched some classic movies, I also went to a library to

borrow some new books for next term. The more I read the more enthusiastic I

became, and now I’ve developed my reading skills a lot.

Another event in my winter vacation is that I went to hiking with my

parents. It was a warm, sunny day, which is pretty precious during winter time.

time. The middle school students are so young and unthoughtful to take the

As we all knoweverybody had his/her own dream.

Some dreamed to be a scientistothers had the dream becoming a star or even a president. HoweverI was dreaming to be a teacher when I was a little young boy. There are several legends about the origin of this festivity and we could not tell which one is true. But what we know today is that this festival started as a sacrificial offering to ancestors. It was also a time for the ancient Chinese to pray to heaven and earth that there would be a bountiful harvest. Many people hoped for good luck as well for the coming year.

农历十二月初八是中国的传统节日——腊八节，腊代表中国农历的十二月，而八是eight的发音，因此，这个节日被翻译成腊八。关于腊八起源的传说有很多，我们已经不能辨其真假。时至今日，我们确定的是这个节日起初是为了祭祀祖先，祈求丰收以及为即将来到的一年祈福。

Traditionally, the Laba rice porridge is the most important element of the festival. Generally, the porridge contains eight ingredients which can include glutinous rice, red beans, millet, Chinese sorghum, peas, dried lotus seeds and some other ingredients, such as dried dates, chestnut meat, walnut meat, almond, peanut, etc. The porridge must be boiled for many hours and then offered as a sacrifice to the ancestors. This must be done before noontime. Also, it is tradition that family members eat the porridge together. Then they leave some as a symbol of hope for a good harvest the coming year.

Another custom is the soaking of Laba garlic. Garlic is soaked in vinegar for more than twenty days starting from Laba festival. Then when the Chinese New Year comes, the garlic and vinegar is used alongside jiaozi on the table.
