Yet no Spring Festival is complete without food. People could not get good food whenever they desired in earlier times， something that does not apply to society today. 贴春联的来源和意义：

年关将至，有着许许多多的过年习俗。贴春联就是其中的一种。喜庆的大红春联是对联的一种，在春节时张贴春联，故名春联。春联的来源其一是桃符。最初人们用以避邪，后来画门神像木刻人形应挂在门旁于桃木之上，再简化为在桃木板上题写门神的名字。春联的另一来源是春贴，古人在立春日多贴“宜春”二字，后渐渐发展为春联，表达了汉族劳动人民的一种辟邪除灾、迎祥纳福的美好愿望。 春联俗称“门对”、“春贴”、“对联”、“对子”，雅称“楹联”。

春联的贴法：

分清楚上下联

从平仄上的区分，上联的最后一个字为仄声(现代汉语中的三声和四声)，下联的最后一个字为平声(一声和二声)，如“岁”为仄声，“新”为平声。从意境上的区分，下联的意境一般比上联的意境深刻远大一些，如“雄鸡辞旧岁，灵犬迎新春”，迎新春就比辞旧岁的意境更深刻些。

贴横批

古人书写的顺序是从右至左，现在很多横批人已经不按过去的书写方式了，也有从左向右书写的。所以，主要看横联。从面对大门的方向看：如果横联是从左向右的现代写法。如果正规的话应该按照古代的写法!即从右往左书写!

上下联

根据横批的顺序确定上联的方向，再贴上下联。现在贴在大门上的春联一般称为门联，贴在里门(二门)上的称为重门联。很多家庭现在都安装了防盗门，此时张贴对联直接把上下联挂在防盗门上即可，如果贴在周边的墙上，反而显得不够工整。

The Spring Festival is the most important festival in China. It is on January 1st according to the Chinese lunar calendar(中国的农历). It’s China’s New Year’s Day. So usually a month before the festival people begin to buy food clothes and decorations(装饰) for houses.

About a week before the festival housewives are busy preparing the new year dinner. And they will do a lot of washing and cleaning in the houses. People who are far away on business are hurrying to return home for the new year’s family reunion（团聚）.
