据法国BFMTV电视台报道，巴黎市内当晚至少发生了六起枪击事件，位于圣丹尼的法兰西球场则至少发生了3次爆炸。几乎与此同时，有目击者见到两至 三名枪手进入巴黎市内的巴塔克兰音乐厅，随后朝内开火并绑架人质。据此间多方消息证实，当时正有一支来自美国加利福尼亚的剧团正在演出。英国BBC的报道显示，位于巴黎11区的一家饭馆被扫射，记者在现场看到至少10人被射杀在路边或已严重受伤。

除开技术上的缺失外，民众安全意识的缺乏也是导致恐怖袭击频发的另一重要原因。法国曾在“9.11”事件后计划法对全国平均每天15000次客车，日铁路客运旅客流量高达400万人次的交通进行管制，并在全国大小车站普遍设立安检门等安检设施和程序，然而舆论认为这些措施造成大量人力、物力和财力的投入，更有一些分析家坦言“毕竟不是每天都会发生铁路恐怖袭击事件”，且安检程序一旦设立并启动，就必须时刻不停地运转方能防患于未然，造成“过度安防”措施未曾提上议程、中途流产。

要防止和预警恐怖事件的发生，法国在人力、物力、技术上的投入还太少，还需向美国、中国等大国借鉴城市安全管理措施。相信不久之后，安全问题将成为法国政府政策重心，安保措施将不断加强，恐怖袭击事件将不断减少。
