Chinese New Year or Spring Festival  the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It  sometimes called the "Lunar New Year" by Englh speakers. The festival traditionally begins on the first day of the first month (Chinese: 正月; pinyin: zhēng yuè) in the Chinese calendar and ends on the 15th; th day  called Lantern Festival. Chinese New Years Eve  known as chú xī. It literally means "Year-pass Eve".

Chinese New Year  the longest and most important festivity in the Lunar Calendar. The origin of Chinese New Year  itself centuries old and gains significance because of several myths and traditions. Ancient Chinese New Year  a reflection on how the people behaved and what they believed in the most.

Celebrated in areas with large populations of ethnic Chinese, Chinese New Year  considered a major holiday for the Chinese and has had influence on the new year celebrations of its geographic neighbors, as well as cultures with whom the Chinese have had extensive interaction. These include Koreans (Seollal), Tibetans and Bhutanese (Losar), Mongolians (Tsagaan Sar), Vietnamese (Tt), and formerly the Japanese before 1873 (Oshogatsu). Outside of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, Chinese New Year  also celebrated in countries with significant Han Chinese populations, such as Singapore, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Thailand. In countries such as Australia, Canada and the United States, although Chinese New Year  not an official holiday, many ethnic Chinese hold large celebrations and Australia Post, Canada Post, and the US Postal Service sues New Years themed stamps.

Within China, regional customs and traditions concerning the celebration of the Chinese new year vary widely. People will pour out their money to buy presents, decoration, material, food, and clothing. It  also the tradition that every family thoroughly cleans the house to sweep away any ill-fortune in hopes to make way for good incoming luck. Windows and doors will be decorated with red colour paper-cuts and couplets with popular themes of “happiness”, “wealth”, and “longevity”. On the Eve of Chinese New Year, supper  a feast with families. Food will include such items as pigs, ducks, chicken and sweet delicacies. The family will end the night with firecrackers. Early the next morning, children will greet their parents by whing them a healthy and happy new year, and receive money in red paper envelopes. The Chinese New Year tradition  a great way to reconcile forgetting all grudges, and sincerely wh peace and happiness for everyone.

Although the Chinese calendar traditionally does not use continuously numbered years, outside China its years are often numbered from the reign of Huangdi. But at least three different years numbered 1 are now used by various scholars, making the year 2009 "Chinese Year" 4707, 4706, or 4646.

The Lantern Festival (元宵节) is the last day of the Chinese New Year celebration.

This day is for the last moment for setting off fireworks, the last excuse for eating a big feast and the last chance for family getting together before the “年” celebrations are over. (Latern Festival is also a traditional time of celebration for foreigners who live in China).

The Lantern Festival, the 15th of the first month of the lunar calendar, is the first full moon of the year.

Celebrations and traditions on this day date back to the Western Han Dynasty.

Traditions for this festival: as the name indicates, hanging and looking at lanterns is the main tradition.

Lanterns of various shapes and sizes are displayed on trees, or along river banks.

Parents often take their children to Lantern Fairs and sometimes lucky kids even get a mini toy lantern.

Another tradition is guessing lantern riddles. These are riddles that are hung on lanterns for people to shoot down and solve. The riddles are usually short, wise, and sometimes humorous.

The answer to a riddle can be a Chinese character, a famous persons name, a place name or a proverb. This tradition has become a popular game with serious staying power even as social development changes other traditions.

Other than that, the most important thing to do today is to eat sweet dumplings. In northern China, sweet dumplings made of glutinous rice flour are called “元宵” while in southern part they are called “汤圆”.

Typical sweet dumplings are filled with black sesame sauce, sweetened bean paste, or hawthorn. Making “元宵” today is like a game or an activity, so its seldom done without a reason and a group of friends or family present to help out.

I went to visit my grandparents last August. They lived in a small village far from Shenyang. I was born there ten years ago. I remembered it had been a poor place before.

您好！

当我得知2010年奥运会在我国举行时，我高兴极了。因为这代表着中华人民共和国可以在全世界立足了！

这些年来，我国为了争取到举办奥运会的权力，费尽了心思，终于功夫不负有心人争取到了举办2010年奥运会的权力。

我从书上得知，历届来，举办奥运会都是国内消耗最大的，建设场地、购买运动器材，要安排各国来的成千上万的运动员和教练的衣食住行，还有开幕、闭幕仪式上的艺术团、清洁人员、裁判员等人的工资，这得花费几亿元人民币。而奥运会的收入只能从门票、广播电台等方面的收取。

作为中国的一位小公民，我也忍不住要为2010年奥运会提一点建议：

首先，要在场地和器材上节省财力。场地可以用北京最大的体育馆代替，如果新建场地，既浪费财力又消耗人力。所以不必新建场地。至于器材吗，可以从体育学校和体育馆挑选高级、优质的体育器材，以省一点钱。

第二是开幕式，可以请五十六个民族的小伙子和姑娘们表演他们当地的舞蹈，再请北京当地戏班表演一些中国的戏剧，让外国人大开眼界，一饱眼福。

第三是比赛。比赛一直都是最让人关注的事情。首先，要安抚运动员们，让他们不要紧张，其次，是裁判员要公正，不要偏袒任何一方三，做到场地干净、整洁。

至于开幕式，我们一定要采用中国最优秀的节目，挂上红灯笼、中国结，表演戏剧、民歌、杂剧、小品……让这些节目深深印入国际友人的心田。

运动会的主要收入很简单，所以我们要根据个人的需要，调节门票价格，在海报上下点功夫，让电台、广播、报纸上大肆宣传，以便让奥运会的成本降低到最低。

playing games. I can wear my shirts . I often plant trees and go hiking . I like spring very much.

我是浙省宁波市余姚市东北街道XX村XX小学602班其中的一员，今天特地给你们写了这封信，讲几句我对20XX奥运会的一些想法。

第XX届奥运会在首都北京召开的消息传遍了祖国大地。我身为祖国的一份子，当然也为此感到非常的高兴。

在雅典举行的第27界奥运会中，运动员们个个赛出了成绩，赛出了自我，获得了金牌榜上的第二名，打败了体育强国俄罗斯，为我国取的了优异的成绩。但美国还依然保持着金牌榜上的第一名。我希望在20XX年的奥运会中，我国的运动代表团能打败美国，开创一个新纪元。不知道现在运动员们有没有加强训练。

20XX年，我已经是一个17岁的女孩了。那时的我正在读初三。虽然即将进行毕业考，但我还是会为20XX年的奥运会做一些贡献。在迎接20XX年北京奥运会召开之际，我觉得我们每个人都应该保护环境。现在，在我们的校园里，只要一下课，就会随时看见捡纸片、倒垃圾的同学；放学后，大多数同学也都能在校外做一个“环保小卫士”。但是，有些人仍存在不好的地方，比如：有的同学上学时吃完点心，就随手一扔；一些中老年人还经常随地吐痰；还有的甚至在摘花、爬树，损坏公共设施。我多么的希望那些破坏环境的人能改掉这个坏习惯，让更多的人一起来保护环境，那么那些国外人士到我们中国来就会说：“Thisplaceisbeautiful!”

20XX年，我想那时的交通一定不像我们这样拥挤，经常堵塞。我想那时北京的交通一定会很发达的，比如说又多建造了几条立交桥，又多建造了几架飞机，又多了几条巨型的轮船，欢迎来自四面八方的朋友。

如果那些来自五湖四海的朋友愿意来浙游玩，不嫌弃我的话，我愿意当他们的向导，向他们介绍一些浙的名胜古迹，比如绍兴的大禹陵，杭州的西湖，余姚的河姆渡遗址……我还会向他们介绍一些我们浙的土特产，比如说绍兴的臭豆腐，余姚的杨梅，绍兴的霉干菜……这些可都是小有名气的，让人吃了还想吃。

20XX年是每个人的期望，我由衷地希望中国有比以前更好的成绩，中国的金牌数会远远地超过美国，晋级全亚洲，晋级全世界。

[给奥运会的一封信作文

Chinese New Year is coming and my family is very busy。 Its because Chinese New Year is very special and important。 We must prepare many special things to get ready for this festival。

First， will make a big New Year meal。 Second， we will make Good—luck wishes。 Third， we will set off firecrackers。 New Year meal is delicious and we think that eating some will bring us good luck。 A long time ago， Chinese people believed red color could bring our good luck too。 And we set off firecrackers could frighten ghosts away。

Chinese New Year is very popular between students。 Because we can have a long happy holiday。

The winter vacation, we came to Harbin, mom and Dad took us to the Yabuli ski resort.

A sight that I was shocked, a silver white snow, coming from across the slope, each snow road length is different, with a narrow width, high and low, spectacular.

In the dressing room, the skiing suits are changed. Everyone gets together. The coach teaches us how to skate and how to stop. Oh, its too simple. Skiing is the two feet parallel, knees bent forward, and slippery dry ice like, two feet open, a big point inside the eight words.
