野生动物资源是自然生态系统的重要组成部分，对维护生态平衡，建设生态文明具有十分重要的意义。我镇及周边地区由于良好的森林植被，成为候鸟迁徙途中的重要停歇地，每年春、秋二季，大批候鸟在此栖息觅食，种类有6大类120多种。常见的杜鹃、山雀、黄椿、花鸡、猫头鹰等等。保护野生鸟类，对于保护生物多样性，特别是对预防和控制高致病性禽流感疫病的传播，保护人民身体健康具有十分重要意义。

《中华人民共和国野生动物保护法》、《中华人民共和国陆生野生动物保护实施条例》、《浙江省陆生野生动物保护条例》等法律法规，明确规定野生动物资源受国家法律保护，任何单位和个人不得非法猎捕、杀害、出售、收购、邮寄、运输、携带、经营、驯养野生鸟类和其它野生动物。禁止任何单位、个人在山上、沿海滩涂、内陆湿地等处张网捕鸟和进行其它破坏野生鸟类资源的行为，对非法捕杀、经营野生鸟类的单位和个人，将依法进行严肃处理，非法捕杀国家一级保护鸟类1只及以上或国家二级保护鸟类3只及以上或国家三级保护鸟类20只及以上，以及窝藏一般鸟类50只及以上的行为，将依法追究刑事责任。
