The Great Wall of China is called the "Ten thousand Ii Great Wall" in

Chinese. In fact, it s more than 6 000 kilometres long. It winds its way from

During the Warring States Period, more walls were put up to defend the

walls joined up. Thus, the Great Wall came into being.The Great Wall is wide enough at the top for five horses or ten men to walk

side by side.Along the wall are watchtowers, where soldiers used to keep watch.Fires were lit on the the towers as a warning when the enemy came.It was very difficult to build such a wall in the ancient days without any

modern machines.

All the work was done by hand. Thousands of men died and were buried under

the wall they built. The Great Wall was made not only of stone and earth, but of

the flesh and blood of millions of men.

Today the Great Wall has become a place of interest not only to the Chinese

but to people from all over the world. Many of them have come to know the famous

Chinese saying: "He who does not reach the Great Wall is not a true man."

As the saying goes, "not a true man unless he comes to the Great Wall".

When I was small, I know there is a Chinese building called the Great Wall. So I

very want to go to there to see. Finally, when I was three years old, my father

and mother took me to the Great Wall.

mountain. Its ups and downs, and sometimes hidden in the mountains, and

sometimes jumped out from the mountains, like surf on the roller.

has become the place of interest which attracts so many tourists both at home

When I was standing on the top of the Great Wall, I felt as if I were in

ancient days.

I could see many laborers working very hard. How could they finish this

extremely difficult task by hand?

The moment I stepped in high school, I have made up my mind to study hard

for the purpose to enter a good university. In the first year, I made a lot of

new friends. All of them were so excellent that I wanted to learn from them. As

the second year has come, I felt great pressure. My scores went up and down and

I felt so worried. I told myself that I should find a way to relieve pressure.

Listening to music was a good way. I would sing with the music and shake my

body, which made me forget everything but the joyous music. Second, I would like

to talk to my friends, because they understood me. We would have some tea in the

shop and then shared our secrets. When we laughed out loudly, all the annoyance

would disappear.

Those who live in cities around the world are likely going to have similar

experiences about living and the associated challenges regardless of their

location on the globe. Most of these challenges revolve around stress which

studies have shown is a part of living. Regardless of what you do and your

profession and place stress is not avoidable but could be minimized. Those who

see stress as an enemy will probably live an irritable life which is quite

unnecessary.

How then do we cope with stress? I am going to give you tips that have

helped and are still helping me in coping with life in the city of Lagos

Nigeria, the most populous African city, where orientation of people is quite

different in many ways about stress and living with others.

I like to make friends, I can share my happiness and sorrow with friends.

Friends are very important part of our lives, without them, I will be very

lonely. I learn it when I was very small. It was Friday, I went to school to

join the English contest, before I went into the classroom, I found I did not

bring the admission card, I felt so worried, without admission card, I could not

walk into the classroom. My friend Li looked at me and asked me what happened, I

told him the truth, then he asked me to stay here and he rushed to our

classroom. Ten minutes later, he came back with my admission card. I was so

thankful, friends are very important.

We all like to make friends, because no one can survive without a friend.

If you ask someone how many friends do they have, most will answer a lot.

Indeed, we make friends in different stage, even we are old, we still make

friends. But not all friends are as honest as they are, some friends we made

since we are young, some are just meet a couple of times and we don’t know much

about them. The former are real friends, while the latter are not true friends.

What is the real friend, a real friend is someone who you can talk about

anything and can be show up the moment you need. Other friends are just for

drinking and eating, they will not help you if you are in trouble. When we make

friends, the real one is what we need.

Its polite to say “thank you” when others help us or say something kind to

us.

Being polite is a good tradition in our country.Nobody likes a person who

is impolite. Its important for us to be polite. We should say “thank you” to

parents when they cook for us. We should say “thank you” when they wash clothes

for us. We should also be polite at school. When the teachers help us work out

questions ,we should say “thank you” to them. When we get bad grades and the

teachers and classmates encourage us, we should say “thank you”. When someone

The Hero in My Heart

As we know, most people have heroes in their hearts. For me， Liu Xiang is

the hero in my heart. He is a famous Chinese sportsman.

Liu Xiang is good at running. In 2004， he won his first Olympic gold medal

in the men，s 110m hurdles event in Athens. Then, he set a world record in the

same event in Lausanne.Besides training and taking part in competitions, Liu

Xiang also likes singing and he sings well.

Linda is my best friend。 She has changed o lot in the past two years。

How time flies! My three-year middle school life will be over soon。 Looking

back， I have many memories of my English study。

master the words and phrases。 For a time I wanted to give it up。 Later， with the

help of the teacher and my classmates， I listened to the teacher carefully in

My Low-carbon Life

The environmental pollution is worse and worse today. Many trees are cut

down, and water and air are polluted. As a student I try to have a low-carbon

life to save energy and reduce pollution.

Firstly, I often walk to school. It can reduce air pollution. Secondly, I

always turn off the lights and fans when leaving the classroom. Thirdly, I

always make full use of paper and other school things and never waste water.

Spring Festival, a day Im looking forward to for a long time, should be

full of happiness, bustle and laughter. But this years novel coronavirus is so

rampant that I can only stay at home and wear masks when I go out, and my

parents remind me to keep warm and pay attention to personal hygiene every day.

The novel coronavirus seemed to have no intention of retreat, but doctors

struggled for many days and nights. In these days, I dont know how many people

have been killed by the virus, and how many doctors are still fighting against

from secondhand smoke every year. So smoking is banned in China in all public

As is known to all, smoking is bad for peoples health. It may cause many

diseases such as cough, lung cancer and so on. Smoking is especially harmful to

us teenagers because our bodies are still growing. Secondhand smoke does harm to

us as well. So we must do something to keep away from smoking. If someone offers

a cigarette, we should refuse it. And if anyone smokes nearby, we should try to

stop it. From now on, everyone of us should follow the law and say no to

smoking.

Anything can happen in this rapidly changing society. People who cant

believe in miracles are impossible to achieve miracles and to create miracles.

In fact, sometimes it is easy to get a miracle. If you dont hesitate, you can

do it. Good luck, you think, is the result of action. The only way to catch the

seemingly impossible is to go after it. It is impossible to create a miracle if

you are satisfied with the status quo, doubt everything, and fear the
