The Old Man and the Sea tells a frustrated experience of the old man who fishes alone in the sea in plain languages. Through the simple lines, a “tough guy” image is shaped and heroism is praised. The whole story starts with a peaceful beginning which is some trivial of life and talking with the boy, and suddenly turns to its climax which is the dangerous fighting with the big fish and sharks alone in the sea, and ends with the old man’s return with the bare skeleton of the big Marlin. Though the boy only appears at the beginning and the ending in the novel, he plays an indispensible role, it is his inspiring and supporting that helps the old man to be “graceful under heavy pressure”.

In the book, the old man prepared his fishing properly and preciously than any other fishermen so that “Then when luck comes you are ready” as the old man thought to himself. In reality, some of us keep complaining that they are born in wrong time or good luck never knocks their doors. In fact, good luck sometimes just comes when they are not ready. Taking Newton for example, if he had not acquired a lot, millions of apples could never make him discovery the gravity. So if we just keep studying as much as we can, good luck will finally find us and a bright future is ahead of us. The old man never gives up hope. When all of people think he is doomed, he still strongly believes that he will get a big fish. And he does. So never giving up hope is very important to us. This reminded me of the sentence in Churchill’s speech “Never give up, never, never, never…”. “But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated” has always been inspiring me when I counter with some setbacks in my life. Setbacks are inevitable in pursuit of our goals, but we should never be frustrated and should be “graceful under heavy pressure” like the old man. It is his relentless pursuit that contributes to the victory.

我读完了这本书后感觉十分气愤，昏君无道，一群忠良却被他们害死，要不是梁山伯的英雄们去征辽，北讨方腊，你这北宋江山早落他人之手，你这大宋仁宗听信小人之话，

Pride and Prejudice is a novel written by the famous English writer, Jane Austen, who was the sixth children in a family of seven and was born in the village of steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died of Addison’s disease in 1817. The book first published on 28 January 1813 by the bookseller Thomas Egerton who had also published Sense and Sensibility, the original version of the novel was written in 1796-1797 under the title First Impressions .

Pride and Prejudice is a love story, mainly tells the love between Elizabeth and Darcy. It divided into 2 volumes and is composed of 42 chapters altogether. The major characters are Mr. Darcy, A rich and proud young man. Elizabeth, the second eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet. Mr. Bingley , A rich young bachelor. Jane, the first daughter of Mr. and Mrs.Bennet. The story begin with Bingley’s arrival. One day when Mrs.Bennet hear Bingley has taken Netherfield, a house near her’s. She is so happy and arranged one of her five daughters marriage with him. At a ball, luckly, Bingley and Jane fall in love at the first sight. Darcy, a friend of Bingley’s , was attracted to Elizabeth, a lively and spirited girl. But Darcy greatly offends her by his supercilious behavior and this dislike is increased by Wickham, a dashing young militia officer of the unjust treatment he has met with at Darcys hands.

One day when Darcy and Bingley’s two sisters disgusted with the vulgarity of Mrs. Bennet and her two youngest daughters, effectively separated Bingley and Jane. Meanwhile, Collins, a cousin of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet, married charlotte, a friend of Elizabeth’s, for Elizabeth’s refuse to marry him. But One day Darcy send Elizabeth a letter, in which he justifies the separation of his friend Bingley and Jane and make it clear that Wickham is. So Elizabeth changed her opinions and ideas toward him. Once when Elizabeth visited her uncle and aunt in the north of England, she met Darcy there and witnessed his changes through series of behaviors, no longer pride and become gentle and attentive, all these made their marriage arranged, and they also suitably provided for Bingley and Jane’s reunited and engaged. My point of view towards the masterpiece of Jane Austen’s is that this novel reflects the English human sentiment of the end of 18th century and the early of 19th century under the circumstance of conservative，and tells us the difference ways and attitudes to marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet’s five daughters’. Thereby reveal the author herself attitude towards marriage, that is love and marriage based on money, property and social status is not perfect, but it is also stupid Without considering all of these. There, the author emphasize the importance of ideal marriage, meanwhile, to be opposed to love & marriage based on money or property and to be opposed to people’s laugh love & marriage off.

The author takes the affection/love as the cornerstone of ideal marriage between male and female. Elizabeth as the leading character in this novel, was born in the family of squireen’s, and is loved by Darcy. Darcy propose marriage to her in spite of difference in the possession of property and social status, but is refused byElizabeth for his pride , the novel demonstrate that if the pride of Darcy’s existed ， there will be no love and also happy marriage between Elizabeth and he, it is really nice that Elizabeth witness the changes of Darcy’s through series of behavior in the following days.

However, unlike other ones, this story first delineates the client’s strange behavior at length to indicate the severity of the incident in order to attract the readers to continue reading it. As is known to all, vivid depiction is essential to detective stories since it can help the readers understand each figure’s characteristics and visualize the scenes, thus making the story more authentic and attractive. Therefore, trying to present a “real world” to his readership, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, author of the original “Holmes series”, has skillfully arranged the plots of the whole story from the perspective of Dr. Watson, a character not so specialized in discovering the truth hidden behind the enigmatic happenings as Holmes but so loyal to Sherlock Homes as a friend that he always accompanies Holmes wherever he goes. In this way, he elaborately depicted every scene and character in the book, Apart from the special start, the ending of the whole story, being dramatic but reasonable, is certainly an outstanding one. After all, except the author himself, who knows that the Duke’s seemingly ordinary secretary is in fact the Duke’s bastard? In addition, who knows that the Duke actually has already been acquainted with the whole thing before Holmes solves this complicated problem? Yet, surprising as it is, this ending seems so natural that it fits all the plots of the story perfectly well. While enjoying this wonderful story, I could do nothing but admire the wonderful design of this masterpiece as well as the author’s gorgeous writing skill. Closing my eyes, I can even “see” the story happening just like watching a film. Not until then did I understand why the Japanese cartoon film Detective Conan used this “Conan” as the name of its hero.

As far as I am concerned, nothing is more admirable and surprising in the hero Sherlock Homes than his profound knowledge which has certainly assisted him a lot when he was studying the case. Take the bicycle tyres for instance, Holmes actually is capable of recognizing 42 different varieties of bicycle tyres. What’s more, according to his other stories, Holmes has studied different kinds of newspapers, cigarettes, people’s footprints and other special things as well. Therefore, he seems to have the mastery of anything relevant to the cases he deals with. Except for his illimitable knowledge, Holmes also specializes in arranging the facts in order and then finding the fact leading him to a great discovery or even the truth itself. 在我年幼时，就已在父亲的引导下领略过《三国演义》了，《三国演义》带给我的影响也是巨大的，使我从小就对驰骋沙场的英雄有独特的迷恋。

《三国演义》，全名《三国志通俗演义》，作者罗贯中。为中国四大古典名著之一，是历史演义小说的经典之作。

《三国演义》是一部历史演义小说，以描写战争为主，大概分为黄巾之乱、董卓之乱、群雄逐鹿、三国鼎立、三国归晋五大部分。在当时独特的历史背景上，上演了一幕幕波澜起伏，气势磅礴的战争场面，成功刻画了几百个人物形象，其中曹操、刘备、孙权、诸葛亮、周瑜、关羽、张飞、赵云等等人物形象脍炙人口，对后世产生了极其深远的影响。

罗贯中身处明朝，却将那个纷争的年代刻画得如此逼真。经有关学者验证，《三国演义》中共出现了1230个人物，而其中给我印象最深的就是关羽，关云长。

关羽(162-220)本字长生，后改字云长，河东解人。东汉末年著名将领，自刘备于乡里聚众起兵开始追随刘备，是刘备最为信任的将领之一。他的忠义是历史上最著名的(没有之一)。而他的勇气、胆识、武艺都是十分高超的。我还记得他被曹军俘虏，但身在曹营心在汉，时刻挂念着刘备。后得知了刘备的去向，便过五关斩六将，千里走单骑，将嫂夫人带回刘备身边。而华容道放走曹操，也是他“义”的体现。

《三国演义》带给我们的不仅仅是历史，更是精神的享受。

哥伦比亚当代作家加西亚·马尔克斯的名字是与“魔幻现实主义”联系在一起的，但展现其高超的魔幻现实手法的则属《百年孤独》，此作品使马尔克斯走上了1982年诺贝尔文学奖的领奖台，从此奠定了其在拉美魔幻现实主义文学的地位。

仅仅书名而已，作者就已成功地把时间与空间的距离拉开，给人以遥远的感觉。作品以布恩蒂亚家族7代人的兴衰史见证了马孔多这个小镇的繁华与没落，直到小镇被一阵飓风吹走，从此世上再也没有马孔多，只留下百年的孤独。这一百年的时间跨度里，小镇上发生了很多离奇古怪的事情，而这些故事在马尔克斯疯狂的魔幻想象描绘下变得那么真实与讽刺。

暑假里我看了马克吐温著的《威尼斯的小艇》，其中短篇小说《百万英镑》是一部很好的作品，读了它使我感触很深。

《百万英镑》是讲一个贫穷、诚实的人，也就是这个故事的主人公收到了一对兄弟的信，信里装着百万英镑。原来这对兄弟打了一个赌，赌如果一个贫穷、诚实的人收到天上掉下的一百万英镑，他会有怎样的结果?哥哥认为他会饿死，因为他无法证明这些钱是他自己的，而且会受到别人的怀疑，就连银行都不会让他存钱。弟弟却认为他会过得很好。于是他们兄弟俩将一百万英镑的支票借给了这个贫穷又诚实又聪明的人，并出国呆了一个月。没想到在这段时间里，人们对这位突然暴富的罕见富翁，竟拼命地拉拢他，从免费吃饭，买衣服，到免费住宿，一个个像乞丐一样讨好他，并不断提高他的社会地位，一直到了除王室外最高的公爵之上!不光如此，他还得到了一位好妻子和三万英镑的银行利息，最后还从两兄弟那儿得到了一份很好的工作，过着非常非常幸福的生活。

今天，老师带领着我们学习了第六课——《梅花魂》，读完了这篇文章，使我受益匪浅。

红楼梦这部书，我看了数遍，从高中第一次拿到书，那么多年过去，这是为数不多还留的我身旁的书之一。86年版电视剧《红楼梦》是我在大学百看不厌的剧集，每一帧都是世间最唯美的画面。每每看书和电视剧，就是满心赞叹文字的细腻，画面的唯美，随着书中戏中主人翁的喜怒哀乐，也是而满心欢喜，时而悲戚，心有戚戚焉。

两个月前，经朋友介绍，偶遇蒋勋细说红楼梦，一发不可收拾，每天只要有时间，无论上下班路上还是去见客户的路上。甚至国庆节回家路上，面对十数公里的堵车长龙，披星戴月，在蒋勋老师娓娓道来的讲述中，体味着十二三岁少男少女的细腻心思，竟然没有了我贯有的浮躁和抱怨，反而非常享受这片刻的宁静，甚至带着乐乐赏星赏月，异常觉得这个时刻的可贵和值得珍惜。

通过蒋勋老师细说红楼梦，我才看到了红楼梦的宏大和伟大。通过细说红楼，我看到了曹雪芹的佛心，蒋勋老师的慈悲心。红楼梦通过蒋勋老师的讲解给我展现了：人际交往学，人性学，社会学，教育学，文学，以及电影脚本的角度，曹雪芹的蒙太奇写法。我能那么实质地感受到曹雪芹书写时的那种包容，那种心底的细腻，那种经过奢华后家族没落，又经过人情冷暖的那种悲凉。虽然我也爱红楼，喜欢红楼，但是从来没有想到过可以通过蒋老师的眼睛看到这本书那么丰富的层面，可以那么慢的看一本书，那么细腻的捉摸每个人物的小心思，每个人物的角度，每个画面的细节，那一帧帧一面面，都是在向我展现人生的各种不同，人性的各种内在外在。

蒋勋老师曾经说过，如果用一个字来说红楼梦，那就是“空”。曹雪芹那种容纳万物的心境来书写笔下的这三百多个人物，每个人物都没有重叠，每个人都可以从他/她一出场一直到这个书的结束(前80回)都始终保留他自己的那个唯一的个性。在写作中曹雪芹化身成了这三百多个人物，即是大富大贵的显官达贵，又是身份卑微的赵姨娘，小红和道婆，所以曹雪芹就是那活生生地千面菩萨啊。蒋勋老师在一次次在细细解读时，那由衷发出的一次次赞叹，都让我感动，感动我可以通过蒋勋老师的解读可以那么深地触碰到曹雪芹的那种宽广无边的佛心，又被蒋勋老师的慈悲心所感动，没有蒋勋老师的慈悲心，我怎会有机会在我32岁这年就可以触碰到曹雪芹的佛心?曹雪芹的佛性和蒋勋的慈悲心，才能让我们体会到我们自己可能看不出来的那些文字背后隐藏的真实情感。

带着阅历来读书，可以从书中找到感动自己心底的那一帧那一幕。

I read the book then watched the movie, both of them ga一ve me great shock, I really admire Meggie,she had the courage to use her whole life to love Ralph, never ga一ve up. She believed that she would love Ralph only in her life. But I don’t like Meggie’s attitude to love, Ralph is a Father, and he mustn’t love Meggie, they really loved each other, but they are not destined to be together. So in my opinion I think Meggie should give in, she shouldn’t fight with God, Ralph had told her he would serve God forever, so Meggie wouldn’t win. Maybe giving up is a good choice. Their love is painful.

Tell the turth I don’t like Meggie neither Ralph, Ralph could not give Meggie happniess while Meggie couldn’t support Ralph to concentrate on his work. So they would not ha一ve happy life, they only made each other feel sad .

Frank is my fa一vorite role. he was short but strong ,and he was one of the main labor in his family. He didn’t want to be a shepherd, but the family needed him , and he must feed he the sheep so that everybody in his family can live better. Once he escaped from home , but it wassn’t long before his father found him and take him home. I feel so sorry that he had a miserable fate. He longed for freedom but most of his life didn’t belong to himself, it’s really a pity .

Frank was different to every man in their home, he loved his mother deeply, and he always helped his mother do the housework. he dreamed to be an outstanding boxer. Frank was considerable, and he always try his best to make Meggie feel happy. As Meggie’s oldest brother, he could be worried about Meggie’s fa一vorite doll, and he even tried to fixed the doll which was distroyed by Meggie’s other brothers. Frank and Meggie would always tell each other what they thought in their deep heart , and they are close friends.

I was so sad when I learned that Frank killed a man and he was sent to the prision. It is really a big shock to Meggie, for Frank was the only one who can listen to Meggie’s secrets. She thought she lost Frank forever. I cannot imagine how painful for Frank to spend dozens years in the prision. He once had good dream about his life, but he had to waste most of his life in prision. In my opinion it was Frank’s father that distoryed his life. His father didn’ t give him freedom, and Frank can’t had strong resistance spirits, and because he didn’t control himself and broke the law.The energitic Frank will never come to us, and he became a man who didn’t wanna talk. He began to be afraid of the world…it is really a pity.

As for Meggie, I think she was a good girl. She was beautiful and smart, but she it was wrong for her to love Ralph. Meggie was an excellent girl, she was able to find an outstanding boy to love her, but she put all her love on Ralph even she married Luke. She married Luke just because Luke looked like Ralph. Meggie wanna be a thorn bird, but I think it was too cruel to her. She was so kind that she shouldn’t stand that king of pain, and I think she was born to ha一ve a happy life. I pity for her.

Both the story of thorn birds and the legend are painful and beautiful, but not every one can be the thorn birds, because it is not our porpose to ha一ve a painful life. We are born to be happy. Olny happiness is the ture meaning of life while the story was written for us to enrich our life. It is a wonderful story.

She didn"t understand why the teachers and students treat her so bad. She had to work 16 hours a day. She began to taste the hardships of life with no money. Sara and her partner Becky lived together and they helped each other, support each other. There’s an old saying, when one door shuts, another opens. So, after a long time, she met her father’s partner who was searching for her for years because her father found a gold ore and earned lots of money. Then she lived with this kind man and Becky became her exclusive maid.

When I finished reading the book, I feel inspire. What impressed me most are Sara’s kindness and the spirit of brave. When facing difficult, she is still very optimistic and is kind to everyone. She always has a b will and never gives up. I think whenever I face difficult I will think of Sara, then I will feel inspire and overcome it bravely.

Let me just start by saying that I had been put off reading Thomas Hardye by Dickens. Having really struggled with Dickens and resorted to audio I had wrongly assumed that all 19C liturature was the same. How wrong I could be. From the first paragraph where the opening character farmer Gabriel Oak is desribed smiling, ‘the corners of his mouth spread till they were an unimportant distance from his ears‘ I fell in love with Hardy‘s narrative. His ability to use words that lift the description off the page and into the reader‘s imagination are not just outstanding but incredibly enjoyable.

I went into this book blindly, knowing little about the plot that lay ahead or even the genre. It has been described by some as romantic fiction. But I think this is too simplistic a title and and maybe slightly off-putting to some. Hardye steps into Greek Tragedy when the unwitting and churlish actions of our young protagonist, Bathsheba Everdene, result in a love tryst between three suitors with tragic consequenses.

The book is essentially a journey for Bathsheba into womanhood not unlike the journey that Scarlett O‘Hara makes in Gone with the Wind who also has to overcome great tragedy in order to realise her own strength. Unlike this heroin, however, Bathsheba is more the instrument of chaos and indecion and part of her journey is that she accepts what she has caused and tries to make it right.

Hardye avoids making this into moral stricture but deviates from the Greek Tragedy model by giving us a happy ending not atypical of 19C serialised fiction.

Despite I’ve not in my childhood yet, I still prefer reading fairy-tale stories. The tales, which accompany with me in my old days, often make me think of some precious experience and sensation which only belong to children. This summer I’ve review this kind of tale, which was published in 1940. It’s the world-famous fairy-tale by the French author, Antoine de St-Exupery, The Little Prince.

As many other fairy-tales, the outline of The Little Prince is not very complex. “I”, the narrator of the story, is a pilot whose plane has something wrong and lands in the Sahara. In this occasion, the pilot makes the acquaintance of the little prince, a little boy from another planet, the Asteroid B612. The little prince has escaped from his tiny planet, because he has some quarrel with a rose, which grows on his planet. In that case he left his own planet and took an exploration at some neighbor asteroids.

On his all-alone journey, the little prince meets different kinds of people, which includes a king, a conceited man, a tippler, a businessman, a lamplighter and a geographer. From these people he gets a conclusion that the grown-ups are very odd. Following the instruction of the geographer, he descends in the Sahara, on the earth.

做人就应该这样，不要一副贪生怕死的面孔，要对自己有信心，即使我们遇到重重困难。也不因该让他打到应该勇敢去面对。
