I was wondering what was in such a nice package until I carefully opened it and found that you sent me an attractive present for my birthday. Thank you very much for your kindness, and I like the present, which will give me pleasure for a long time to come.

Again it is thoughtful of you to send me the present on my birthday. Yesterday evening my colleagues held a birthday party for me, including John Liu---I think you can remember---a nice tall boy, who invited you and I to his birthday last October. We enjoyed ourselves, and all of us mentioned your stay with us. We hope that you will come to China soon, if possible.

齐威王的相国邹忌长得相貌堂堂，身高8尺，体格魁梧，十分漂亮。与邹忌同住一城的徐公也长得一表人才，是齐国有名的美男子。

一天早晨，邹忌起床 后，穿好衣服、戴好帽子，信步走到镜子面前仔细端详全身的装束和自己的模样。他觉得自己长得的确与众不同、高人一等，于是随口问妻子说：“你看，我跟城北的徐公比起来，谁更漂亮？”

他的妻子走上前去，一边帮他整理衣襟，一边回答说：“您长得多漂亮啊，那徐先生怎么能跟您比呢？”

邹忌心里不大相信，因为住在城北的徐公是大家公认的美男子，自己恐怕还比不上他，所以他又问他的妾，说：“我和城北徐公相比，谁漂亮些呢？”

他的妾连忙说：“大人您比徐先生漂亮多了，他哪能和大人相比呢？”

第二天，有位客人来访，邹忌陪他坐着聊天，想起昨天的事，就顺便又问客人说：“您看我和城北徐公相比，谁漂亮？”客人毫不犹豫地说：“徐先生比不上您，您比他漂亮多了。”

邹忌如此作了三次调查，大家一致都认为他比徐公漂亮。可是邹忌是个有头脑的人，并没有就此沾沾自喜，认为自己真的比徐公漂亮。

恰巧过了一天，城北徐公到邹忌家登门拜访。邹忌第一眼就被徐公那气宇轩昂、光彩照人的形象怔住了。两人交 谈的时候，邹忌不住地打量着徐公。他自觉自己长得不如徐公。为了证实这一结论，他偷偷从镜子里面看看自己，再调过头来瞧瞧徐公，结果更觉得自己长得比徐公差。

晚上，邹忌躺在床 上，反复地思考着这件事。既然自己长得不如徐公，为什么妻、妾和那个客人却都说自己比徐公漂亮呢？想到最后，他总算找到了问题的结论。邹忌自言自语地说：“原来这些人都是在恭维我啊！妻子说我美，是因为偏爱我；妾说我美，是因为害怕我；客人说我美，是因为有求于我。看起来，我是受了身边人的恭维赞扬而认不清真正的自我了。”

这则寓言告诉我们，人在一片赞扬声里一定要保持清醒的头脑，特别是居于领导地位的人，更要有自知之明，才能不至于迷失方向。

国庆节到了，我们国家成立六十七周年了，机关、学校、工厂、社区、各单位门前挂着红布，上面写着“庆祝国庆”四个大字。

继续攀登，我们步入兵器库遗址，兵器库洞深72米，宽18米，高25米，这里曾经是著明的“黄崖洞保卫战”遗址。

从小，小石头就十分爱干净，吃饭时要用纸巾，洗手时要用纸巾，折纸时要用纸巾……

爸爸告诉他木材是制造纸巾的原料，我们要节约用纸，可是他不听，总是搞得家里到处是纸屑。有一天，小石头睡着了，梦里，他一蹦一跳地去开心广场玩，走在路上，他就觉得怪怪的，今天好像特别热，开心广场上的树都去哪儿了呀？小石头问保安，保安说不知道；小石头问小草，小草也说不知道；小石头又去问正在搬家的小鸟，小鸟说：“大树被卷走了，我们要搬家了。”小石头听了急得连忙问：“小鸟小鸟告诉我，大树被什么风卷走了？”小鸟回答说：“有个小朋友特别爱浪费纸，木头都快被他用光了，我们没有地方住了。”说完，小鸟急急忙忙飞走了。小石头一听，脸马上就红了，着急地对所有人道歉：“对不起，我以后再也不浪费纸了，我以后再也不浪费纸了。”梦醒之后，小石头真的变了，变得节约用纸了，而且还总劝爱用纸的大人们说：“木材是制造纸巾的原料，没有了树，大自然会失去平衡，地球就会很热。”

所以我们应该节约用纸。

很久很久以前，兔子的尾巴是很大的，可是现在兔子的尾巴怎么变得像小毛球那么短?

有一天，有两只兔子在一条小河前玩耍。它们突然看见河对岸有一丛绿油油的草，就想去对岸吃个痛快。可是兔子不会游泳，怎么办呢?两只小兔子就站在那里发愁了。

这时，两只小兔看见了一只乌龟钻了出来。两只小兔子眼珠一转，想出了一个好办法。它们对乌龟说：“龟大妈，听说你的孩子在这条河里数也数不清。”龟大妈自豪地说：“那是当然的。”小兔又说：“我们不信，不如交出你的孩子，我们来比一比吧。”

龟大妈二话不说，立刻钻进了小河里。不一会儿，龟大妈就叫出了它所有的孩子。龟宝宝们就整整齐齐地排成了两座桥。两只小兔子对视了一下，扮了个鬼脸，跳到了靠岸边的小龟身上。它们一边跳一边数，直到跳到对岸。

两只小兔得意洋洋地说：“你这只笨乌龟，上当了，其实我们根本没有孩子。”两只小兔笑了起来，可是它们高兴得太早了。它们的身子在岸上，但两条长尾巴却还在水里。小龟们都生气了，它们张开嘴巴扑向小兔的长尾巴使劲地咬了一口。小兔拼命地拉，结果把尾巴拉断了。

后来，这两只兔子真的生了好多的兔宝宝，可是它们的尾巴都和它们的祖先一样是短尾巴。

Everybody will meet all kinds of difficulties during their lives, of

course, they are willing to accept success, but the fact is that no one can win

all the time, they will meet failure now and then. Fail is an unpleasant thing

to face, people treat fail a bad thing. While for me, I think we can learn from

failure and be a better man.

Everyone is afraid of facing failure, because failure brings them the sense

of frustration. When facing failure, people choose to avoiding talking about it,

they feel that they will be looked down upon by others. Indeed, no one likes to

failure anything, they want to be successful all the time.

If people change their idea about failure, they can see the positive side.

There is an old saying that failure is the mother of success, which means that

people will learn from failure and make preparation for the success. So failure

is not that hard to face, if people take right attitude towards it, they will

路旁的合欢树一直对梧桐树耿耿于怀，因为他总是霸道地独自占有阳光，只把一片阴影留给合欢树。

因为有阳光的照顾，梧桐树越长越高，个头远远超过了合欢树。于是，他更加强势地挡住了全部的阳光。也是因为高大，梧桐树总能得到行人的关注。路过的行人都说，瞧那棵梧桐树，真是高大威猛。

瞧他那得意的样子，瞧他那高高在上的样子，合欢树越看越觉得不舒服。被行人冷落的感觉不好，合欢树一度沉默寡言。

连负责照顾他们的绿化工人也对梧桐树偏心，给他修剪枝叶的时候总要更温柔一些。

合欢树觉得自己被冷落，是因为她一直生活在梧桐树的阴影下，所以，合欢树恨透了梧桐树。

可是夏天来了，猛烈的阳光照得路上的行人都睁不开眼。

某一天，合欢树惊讶地发现，梧桐树竟然被太阳晒死了。枯死的梧桐树树干很快被绿化工人运走了。

这时，合欢树才悔悟到，其实她不应该恨梧桐树，如果不是在他的阴影下乘凉，或许她也会被太阳晒干的。

生活中或者职场中，也许有很多比你优秀的人，会让你觉得自己生活在一片无望的阴影下。其实阴影底下好纳凉，正因为他们承载了更多人的期望，承受了更多的压力，你才能放松地做你自己。

一只狮子看见一头吧壮的公牛正在吃草，一想到这是一顿美味佳肴，口水禁不住就流了出来，可是他又畏惧公牛的尖角，不敢轻易发起进攻。然而，饥饿促使他一定要做点什么。单凭武力，他肯定无法成功，于是狮子决定用诡计智取。他带着友好的姿态走到公牛身旁，对公牛说：“简直无法用语言来表达我对您那魔鬼般的身材有多羡慕，这是多／漂亮的头呀，多／宽阔结实的肩膀和大腿呀！不过，亲爱的朋友，宄竟是什么让你戴着这两只奇丑无比的角呢？你一定也发现了，它们又笨拙又丑陋。相信我，若是没有了这两只角，你肯定会更好。”公牛也够蠢的，竟然被这番恭维所说服，把自己的两只角折断了，刚刚失去用以防卫的武器，公牛就轻易地被狮子虏获了。

这天，我又拿起那本相册东翻西翻，其中一张照片映入了我的眼帘。

在这张照片上，有者两个小孩天真的笑容，你一定会问我这两个小孩是谁吧!哈哈!告诉你，在前面探着个脑袋的小孩就是我，在后面哈哈大笑的就是偶的老姐!

这个故事还得从头说起，那天是大年初二，我们一大家子人都约定早上去二环路散步，我和姐姐一听，一蹦三尺高，因为在二环路有个水车，我和姐姐最爱钻进水车里玩了。一路上，我和姐姐牵着手蹦蹦跳跳地唱着歌，不知不觉就到了“终点”，大人们也随我们一起来到了水车旁，还好水车旁有木椅，他们可以坐着聊天。由于水车下面有水，所以我和姐姐都是被外公和爸爸抱进水车里的。想要将水车转动起来，那当然得要人用脚踏了。于是我和姐姐就在里面不停地蹬“扑通!”唉!我这倒霉鬼，竟然为了拍照，忘记了自己不在平地上，所以迈出了一步，踏进了水里，我很不服气，所以连着蹬了好几下。”啊!快停下来!“欧

god!”我竟然忘记姐姐还没开始蹬，由于我过于用力，竟然忘了姐姐，把她蹬到半顶上了。这次，我吸取了教训，注意力不再分散，和姐姐配合得很好，可是这次由于太集中注意力，整个人都紧张的立了起来，将头也放在了外面，姐姐看着我，笑得前仰后合，妈妈看见我们这个样子，抓住时机“咔嚓”的留住了这一瞬间，于是这张照片便永久的保留在我的相册里了。

每当看见这张照片时，我的心都跟着激动了起来，可是时光总会悄悄地从我们脚边溜过，从手指间滑过，现在，我和姐姐都长大了，不再是当年天真的小孩了，我们都有各自的事，现在都以学习为主，根本没有时间玩，而且当年的那个水车，也被锁住了，水车下面不再那么耀眼，我的心就会十分低落，所以只能回家，打开相册，回忆着当时的场景，想着想着就会哈哈大笑起来。

这张照片跟随了我3年，我会永远将它一直增藏着。
