在我的家乡，每到年末，每家每户都要祭神。

祭神的前一天，进行掸尘(打扫卫生)。大家一起把屋里的每个角落打扫干净，桌椅、灶台，全都拭擦一遍，寓意：把这一年的邪祟扫除，迎接新年的到来。再从街上买来鸡、肉放在大锅里煮熟。第二天凌晨，大人们早早地起床，穿上新衣服，梳着时尚的发型。祖孙三代(或父子两代)从屋里抬出八仙桌，对着大门，寓意拦住所有的好运。

桌上摆着大块的肉，足足有七八斤重;整只的鸡，嘴上衔着三根葱，表示健康聪明;两条大鲤鱼，表示年年有余。它们的摆放也很有讲究：鲤鱼的头朝里，表示余进来，鸡的头朝外，表示大家都知道健康聪明。其它还摆有年糕、苹果，年糕表示年年高，苹果表示平平安安。所有的食品上面都覆盖着一小张红纸，寓意来年红红火火。听老人们讲：所有的祭神食品，不能放十种，一般都放八到九种。因为“十”表示十全十美，而十全十美的生活也就没有了生活追求的目标。看来祭神中也蕴涵着深刻的人生哲理。

鲁迅的作品《祝福》中，也有类似的祭神仪式。如果，鲁迅先生能活到现在，他一定会发出感慨：为女性的解放而欢呼。因为，家乡现在祭神的风俗中，男女地位相同，他们都能与祖、父辈一起祭神。当然这一风俗的改变是实行一对夫妇只生一个孩子以后才出现的。
