因为与汉字“剪不断、理还乱”的关联，书法艺术成为中国艺术门类中最为特殊的一个。古往今来，书法被实用性与艺术性长期“捆绑”，常常陷入尴尬境地，令人难以理解的是，“书法是否是艺术”曾受到严重质疑。科技为锋的时代，把书法实用性的大门永久关闭，我们终于可以骄傲地向世人宣称：书法“达其情性，形其哀乐”(孙过庭语)，它已彻底从实用性与艺术性兼有的状态，上升为一门独立的、纯粹的艺术！

认识书法、欣赏书法、理解书法，要坚守书法的本体，坚守审美的立场。不要再把是否横平竖直、是否方方正正、是否一目了然、是否规规矩矩，作为书 法的标准。它是艺术，不是写字！宗白华说：“就像音乐艺术从自然界的群声里抽出纯洁的‘乐音’来，发展这乐音间相互结合的规律，用强弱、高低、节奏、旋律 等有规则的变化来表现自然界社会界的形象和自心的情感。”读懂书法也同样。我们需要体会书法作品中点画的粗细方圆、轻重快慢，结体的大小正侧、离合断续， 墨色的枯湿浓淡、润燥虚实，章法的起伏跌宕、空白疏密，更要体会在各种丰富的节奏变化与对比组合中产生的关系与情感。书法艺术是形式与情感的相互结合，形 式是被情感激活的形式，情感是被形式表现的情感。

表达对书法艺术的尊重与珍爱，就要在创作中创造书法的新形式、表现书法的新情感。这既可以看作是书法家个体的书法梦，又可以看作是中国书法艺术的“出国”梦：让书法艺术走出国门，立足于世界艺术之林。

中国书法如何走出国门，值得我们深思。书法艺术走出国门，绝不是到国外举办书法展览、在海外现场书写几幅作品，更不是书法家走出国门交流参观， 就意味着书法艺术走出了国门。但凡有志于书法事业、对书法艺术充满责任感与使命感的书法人，都会把弘扬书法的艺术性与审美性，当做应有的立场和态度。也就 是说，书法艺术要想走出国门，就要在真正意义上做到与国外优秀艺术平等地交流与对话。

交响乐、芭蕾舞、歌剧、油画，这些都是西方艺术的经典。从表现形式而言，中国书法与它们存在极大差异，从东西方文化背景而言，更是存在巨大鸿沟，几乎没有交流与对话的可能。但既然同是艺术，就会遵循艺术的原则。“艺术品是将情感呈现出来供人欣赏的，是由情感转化成的可见的或可听的形式”(苏 珊·朗格)。说到底，不同的艺术门类，用不同的形式，表达了共同的艺术情感与审美情感。

艺术无国界。书法艺术走出国门，就要弘扬原创、坚守传统、追求创新、锐意进取，坚持从书法本体出发，按照自身的审美规律，呈现活泼的生机。书法艺术的内涵越丰富，点画、结体、章法、墨色的组合越生动，越能更好地表达书法艺术的美感，越能更好地抒发书法家内心的情感。书法的艺术性越鲜明，就越具有与国外优秀艺术切磋之可能。因此，我们说，唯有坚守书法的艺术表达，才能圆书法艺术的中国梦！
