A great deal of communicating is performed on a person-to-person basis by

the simple means of speech.

If we travel in buses, buy things in shops, or eat in restaurants, we are

likely to have conversations where we give information or opinions, receive news

or comment, and very likely have our views challenged by other members of

society.

Face-to-face contact is by no means the only form of communication and

during the last two hundred years the art of mass communication has become one

of the dominating factors of contemporary society.

Firstly, inventiveness has led to advances in printing, telecommunications,

photography, radio and television.

Secondly, speed has revolutionized the transmission and reception of

communications so that local news often takes a back seat to national news,

which itself is often almost eclipsed by international news.

No longer is the possession of information confined to a privileged

minority.

In the last century the wealthy man with his own library was indeed

fortunate, but today there are public libraries.

Forty years ago people used to flock to the cinema, but now far more people

sit at home and turn on the TV to watch a program that is being channeled into

information.

The modern communication industry influences the way people live in society

and broadens their horizons by allowing access to information, education and

entertainment.

Last week, my friends asked me to spend the weekend in the house that near

the lake. It is one of my friends’ house, where their families often spend the

holiday together. Though the house was not big, the environment around was

新农村，新面貌。村里的每一条道路都变成了水泥路，平整光滑，两边还种植了很多美丽的花草，小公园和篮球场更是给村民的休闲生活增添了不少色彩。爷爷告诉我：以前这里野草丛生，杂物随处可见，围墙也是泥巴做的，简直是一个脏乱的垃圾堆。而现在泥巴围墙变成了钢筋水泥墙，结实耐用，美观大方。每个路口都会有一个彩色垃圾箱，杜绝了村民乱堆乱放垃圾的陋习，同时也保护了环境。

The news that Mr Cai had passed away was known, and I fell into great

sorrow. The sound of the rain knocking on the window was so mournful that it

deepened my distress.

My memory brought me back to the class when I saw him for the last

time.

That evening it was raining, too. We started our lesson as usual at a

quarter past six. I sat in the first row, and I saw Mr Cai press his stomach

with a hand from time to time, but I didn’t know the reason then. The two hours

进到村口，你会看见那笔直而平坦的大路，两边的水沟可以看见水蛭在下面寻找食物，以前那崎岖不平的小路和浑浊的小河，再也没有了，那随处可见的白色污染，已经不见了踪迹。

从那条平坦而笔直的“主通道”一直走去，就可以到达村子的中心了。以前在村子里，有辆自行车简直就是家庭的骄傲，而现在摩托车满路跑，在那明亮而又宽敞的新修的楼房前，有时还会停着小汽车，出门方便极了；现在两三层的小平屋代替了以前吹风就可以倒塌的泥房；有的人家房子上装上了空调，家里的电视机、电冰箱，VCD等电器类，几乎家家户户都有；在村子里，不管是大人，还是老奶奶、老爷爷，个个都随身配带着手机，一分钟就能把消息发出去，这在以前，一句话都要很麻烦很麻烦才能传达到。

再说说村里的池塘吧，以前村里的池塘很不卫生，人们都把垃圾倒进里面，水上漂着瓶瓶罐罐及塑料袋之类的垃圾，使池塘的水黑乎乎的，发出一阵阵恶臭，让人难以忍受，人们都不愿从池塘边走过。现在可就不同了，池塘里的水清澈见底，人们主动保护池塘，不让池塘有一点垃圾，水不但没有臭味而且清澈见底，夏天人们可以在池塘里游泳了，池塘边上种着一排排竹子，像辛勤的岗员，无私地保卫着池塘，保卫着家乡，为人们挡住酷热的骄阳，人们夏天就在竹子下乘凉，看着水里的娃娃们在游泳、玩耍，真可谓“天更蓝水更清了……”。

一个风和日丽的下午，小村鸟语花香、树木茂盛，我和小朋友们拿着大水桶和鱼竿来到河水旁边钓鱼，放下水桶，我们就看见了好几只鸭子在河里游玩，就把鱼竿放下水里，过了一会儿，一只只大鱼就进了我们大水桶里了。

一天，农民拿着斧头来砍树，树渐渐地少了。农民把木头拿到市场上去卖，所以河流少了，他们来到河边钓鱼，才钓到了几只大鱼，他们感到非常惭愧，就很不快乐。有一次，有很多农民把树全部都砍光了。又有一次，那里的小朋友又来钓鱼了，看到只有一小点水了，也听到了雷的声音。一位小朋友说：“要下雨了，要下雨了！”他们在这儿站了一会儿，但就是不下雨，他们说：“那时候，不应该让它们砍树。”现在小草发芽，树木不茂盛，小花也不开，他们只好孤独的回家了。

这幅《家乡的变化图》告诉了我们一个道理：不要乱砍树木，要美化大地，还有不要拔小草，小花也不能拔，因为他们可以给大地带来很多好处的。

我是一只活泼可爱的小鸟。

我和爸爸妈妈在一起生活得十分快乐，十分幸福。可是有一天，人类大肆捕杀动物，爸爸妈妈和其他兄弟姐妹都被抓走了，就只剩下我。我一路寻找其他亲人，一路目睹了人类的恶行：本来，森林郁郁葱葱，葱茏茂密，现在树都被砍了，小动物们失去了它们的家园，都纷纷离开了；本来，鲜花遍地，绿草如茵，我们经常在草地上嬉戏打闹，现在只剩下一片荒芜；本来，我们可以到河边照照镜子，与小鸭子一起戏水，尽在清澈见底的水中，现在水又脏又臭，还怎么玩耍呢？

人们呀！人们呀！你们有没有把我们放在心上呀！再这样下去，我们会无家可归的呀！我们得保护环境，因为保护环境，人人有责呀！
