The mini knitted garments have helped save hundreds of flightless birds caught in oil spills providing protection from the elements and stopping them from ingesting poisonous pollution.

Knits for Nature a program run by The Penguin Foundation which conserves the little penguin population of Phillip Island 140km south-east of Melbourne has created up to 300 different designs over the years - and its all thanks to talented volunteers.

People love to know that they’re helping the penguins because they’re so cute and small and they waddle up the beach and they’re so feisty. But they need to be they live in a pretty tough sort of environment.’

A thumbnail-sized patch of oil can kill little penguins the smallest of the species measuring just 13 inches (33cm) and weighing 2.2lbs (1kg). The oil separates and mats their feathers breaking natural waterproofing and heating functions.

Ms Blom estimates she has knitted between 200 and 300 penguin jumpers over the years including ones in the colours of every Australian Rules football team in the country.

A staff member read an article in an English women’s magazine about knitting for guillemot birds and decided to adapt the designs.

‘There’s an awful lot of ladies out there who used to knit for their children and grandchildren. These ladies have spare wool and idle hands and they love to feel loved and needed and we love and need them’ said Ms Blom.

The Penguin Foundation recently staged a competition for the most creative jumper which received an enthusiastic response.

I come from Class1 Grade 6 of TongPu No.2 Primary School. I`m an active girl. I like playing basketball. Because I think it`s very interesting. I`d like to eat potatoes. They`re tasty(好吃的). My favourite colour is green. And I like math best. It`s fun. On the weekend(在周末), I like reading books in my room. I have a happy family. My father is tall and strong(强壮).My mother is hard-working(工作努力) and tall, too. My brother is smart.(漂亮) And I`m a good student. We had a good time and it was the best birthday party ever．

Today is my birthday and Im so excited about it.In the morning I put a note on the table for my mum and it said,"Today is my birthday,dont forget it!"At school,I got many gifts and cards for my classmates and had a lot of fun.But I was still expecting the birthday party after school.

When it was time to leave school I couldnt wait to go home.When I open the door,there wasnt anybody in the house.There was only a note that said,"Coming home late tonight,mum and dad."I try to call them but there was no answer.I was so shocked,do they forget my birthday?How could this be!I was so sad that I couldnt eat anything.I just did my homework and waited for them.

And then,things changed completely.It was about time for dinner,my mother called and told me to go to the restanrant near our house.When I got there I couldnt believed my eyes.Everybody was there:my parents,my relatives,my friends and even my classmates.There was so many gifts and a big cake.What a surprising birthday party!

My hometown Nan Chang City is in Jiangxi , this is a beautiful , civilized city. There is a lot of places of historic interest, for instance , rope Jin Ta county, prances, king cabinet , all sorts of flowers in Nanchang continent , child pavilion , uprising memorial hall August First, ... Limpid eyes the public square fountain has attracted many visitors , the fountain high and low alternatively with music like naughty child in dancing. Have arrived at evening , the whole city colourfully decorated lantern Gao Zhao , is very beautiful! Take a look on that my hometown is what beautiful , what beautiful! I love my hometown Nanchang!

My name is Simon. Im 24 years old now. Im from Changsha University. I

major in English, because I have the gift for language study.

In my opinion, English is well-known all around the world. If I can speak

excellent English, I could travel to everywhere in the world without language

barriers. Now I can speak English like an American. Most of my classmates always

envy my oral English.

I like traveling very much. Through traveling, I can widen my perspective

and know more about our world. Now I have been to so many cities, such as

Guangzhou, Zhuhai, and Zhongshan. These cities are nice, clean and modern.

I think Im easy-going and hard-working. When Im at work, I always try my

best to do everything well. I never let others do anything that I can do, and I
