早上，远方的朋友短信提醒，今天是农历腊月初八，又到吃腊八粥的时候了，让我不禁想起了小时候的情景。腊八是过年的序幕，从这天开始，妈妈就会为过年做准备了，一直要忙到除夕。

在我们家里腊八这天，二件事必做，一是熬腊八粥，二是腌腊八蒜。腊八蒜就是将蒜剥皮后放入醋中，妈妈说这一天腌的蒜会变成碧绿色。很神奇，确实如此。多年来一直以为只有腊八这个节气才能把蒜腌绿，前段时间无意中放入醋中的蒜居然也变绿了，才知道这大概是妈妈为了让我们剥蒜皮而编出的一个美丽的谎言吧。腊八这天我们小孩子还有一项任务，就是挑豆子，将坏豆子及石子挑出来，这也是最开心的时刻花花绿绿地滩了一桌子，两个姐姐仔细检，我两手抓满豆子，满桌子的和啦，劈啪直往地上掉，惹的她们俩生气。现在挑豆子这项任务妈妈又交给了她的孙子辈，孙女要比他爸爸小时淘气多了。腊八粥里除了各式豆子外，还有红枣、葡萄干、桂元肉、桔皮等，自然少不了米，有大米、小米、糯米、黑米等。熬这种粥要有一定的技巧，既要软烂黏稠又要不粘锅，要用时用心的，妈妈熬出的腊八粥有一种特别清香的味道，常常是满楼飘香，我们都是一路闻着香味上楼的。妈妈可以称得上是一个民间美食家，上世纪70年代，物质普遍不太丰富，但我们家因有妈妈的粗粮精做，餐桌上总是有吃不尽的美味佳肴。

现在妈妈每年还熬腊八粥，因我在外地吃不上，她会把粥冻到冰箱里等过年回去给我吃。说实话跟过年的佳肴相比，粥算不上什么美味，但妈妈还是年年给我留着，我也会很有兴致地大吃几口，我知道只要这样妈妈就满足了。
