polluted air. Unlike science, progress in technology must be our slave and not

the reverse. The legitimate purpose of technology is to serve peopie--people in

general, not merely some people; and future generations, not merely those who

presently wish to gain advantage for themselves.

We are all familiar with the abuses of technology. Many people blame

technology itself for widespread pollution, resource depletion and even social

decay in general--so much so that the promise of technology is obscured. That

promise is a cleaner and healthier world. If wise applications of science and

technology do not lead to a better world, what else will?

It is quite usual that one meets failures, for ones life can never be

plain sailing. However, diffhrent people hold diffhrent attitudes towards

failure. Some people think it a heavy blow to fail in achieving something and

they can not endure failure. When they meet failure, they will be seriously

dejected and can never pluck up their courage to try again. However, others

think it natural to meet failures in ones career. Therefore, they are

psychologically prepared. When they meet failures, they will not be frustrated.

Instead, they will continue to meet new challenges. As to me, Im in favor of

暑假里我在小区的会所里学会了游泳，而这一天我遇到了学完游泳过后的第一次任务，那也算是一个成长，让我变得更加有自信。

那一天我和表妹一起去会所吃西餐，她突然说要和我学游泳，哇塞，我要当教练了!我只被教练教过，可没有当过别人的教练。我内心好一阵激动!能成为表妹的教练就像做白日梦一样不切实际!于是吃完饭我迫不及待的和她一起下了水，一点经验也没有的我，决定成为一个好教练。

于是我耐下心问她会不会动作，然后一次次憋气，在水下仔细观看她原本已经会的动作，不断的用手拿着她的脚，帮她改正错误。我认为我已经很努力在教了，但是她还是有各种各样的麻烦：“我不会换气，一换气就会往下沉;我明明像你一样蹬腿了，可是总是不会往前游;我累了，咱们休息一会再练吧……”她有点不耐烦了。我好像也有一点不知所措了。但是，我想：毕竟我现在是她的教练，我一定要有耐心，不能就这样不教了。不然我就不是一个合格的好教练!

我是一个“圆润”的小帅哥，其实我的身材还算是挺标准了。在此声明，我绝不是个大胖子。快一米六的我才101斤，说我“圆润”，我还勉强能接受。可别人一说我胖，我就会火冒三丈。胖有错吗?我总给自己找借口，心中默念着：我是胖子中的瘦子，我是胖子中的瘦子……

本来有这些绰号，我已经很苦恼了，可妈妈却雪上加霜，又逼我减肥。我这么能吃，怎么减肥呀!妈妈立了很多“条约”：早上半碗粥;中午青菜米饭;晚上一根胡萝卜;一周只能吃两次肉……每天，我一看到爸爸吃肉，我的口水就是“飞流直下三千尺”。蠢蠢欲动的筷子刚要伸向美味的肉，妈妈的一个眼神，就让我断了偷吃的念头。不仅仅如此，妈妈要求我每天还要慢跑半小时，这简直比登天还难啊!我一跑，浑身上下的肉就颤抖起来。没跑几步，我就累得气喘吁吁……好累!可是妈妈的圣旨谁敢违抗?我咬牙坚持着……

端午节前我们把材料准备好。我的妈妈和爸爸去山上摘棕叶，再摘像扇子一样合并的棕绳，回家后，爸爸把像扇子一样合并的棕绳撕出来，挂在那里，和棕叶挂在一起备用。妈妈先把棕叶和棕绳放在锅里煮一煮，煮久了再拿出来备用，我们还要弄棕子馅。把红豆放在风炉里煮一会儿，烧好之后，还要把红豆放在锅里烧过，烧久了之后，会有一些软，再把烧好的红豆捣成泥搓成小球，再加一些白糖就好了。

接下来就可以包棕子了，这是我最开心的时候。首先拿两片棕叶，把它卷起一点包起来，再抓一把糯米，糯米是前一天用水泡过的，再放一个棕馅，再抓一小把大米，把它包起来，最后用棕绳捆起来，这样就包好了。我们也包棕子馅是肉或者枣子的棕子。

把棕子包好后，还要煮棕子。把锅里面倒上水，再一个一个放到锅里面，先是用大火煮，差不多就改小火，如果一直用大火的话，那糯米就会像不听话的小孩一样，从边角上跑出来。馋得我呀!

我包得棕子比较小，所以大多都是我自己做，自己吃。要是棕叶有破损的地方，我就会拿过来玩，之前，我还拿沙子来包棕子呢，再找几个小伙伴一起玩过家家，可有意思了。

我喜欢包粽子，真的很有趣!

屈原是战国时期出国人，很有学问。他在楚王身边做官，以形象是自己的国家富强起来。昏君楚王却听信奸臣的话，把屈原削职流放。在流放中，屈原听说楚国的都城被敌人占领，百姓遭难，悲愤极了。五月初五这一天，他来到汨罗江边，怀抱一块石头，以纵身跳入汨罗江中。出国的百姓听到屈原投江的消息，都十分悲痛。他们含着泪划着船赶来打捞屈原，还把粽子扔到江里喂鱼，希望鱼儿不要伤害屈原的身体。这就是五月端阳包粽子的来历。

端午节还有许多有趣的活动。列如赛龙舟，挂香囊，香囊内有朱砂、雄黄、香药，外包以丝布，清香四溢，再以五色丝线弦扣成索，作各种不同形状，结成一串，形形色色，玲珑夺目。还有挂艾叶、菖蒲的习惯。

端午节的活动可真多啊!

Like every young girl, I pay attention to make myself look pretty, because

if I get more attention from others, I will be very happy. So I start to follow

the models and the movies stars dressing style, then I find that compare to

their skinny bodies, I look like a fat girl. So I have made up my mind to lose

weight. As my body is in the growth period, my parents always ask me to eat

more. When they find me start to eat less, they think I am sick. I tell them

that I want to look beautiful, then my mother says that I am beautiful in her

eyes. If I dont eat, I will look old. I search the Internet. The pictures of

skinny girls scare me, so I give up losing weight. My annoyance is gone, and I

am happy again.

年年辞旧岁，岁岁迎新年。元旦节，这个一年一度令人释怀、兴奋的日子，对于我，自懂事的时候起，似乎就没有过个什么鲜样来，以往这时候发生过什么，脑海里象个抽空的瓶子，没有一点印象。2009年元旦节不同了，这天所做的所做的事，仿佛已深深地铬在心间，想必以后应该不会再没有痕迹了!

今年的元旦节，妻儿提出了一个小小的要求，要求我挤出元旦节这天时间，陪他们攀岩。这个要求，是妻儿早在几年以前就提出了的，因为工作忙，始终满足不了他们。

儿子酷爱体育运动，尤其是攀岩运动，经常在学校的比赛中拿奖。他要求我陪同做一次户外山体攀岩与他比赛，妻子十分赞同。我很明白他们心里面在想着什么——儿子想要一个多陪陪他的健康的爸爸;妻子想要一个身材“苗条”的健康的丈夫!这是他们多年来的共同愿望!

读书时，我也很爱好攀岩，儿子算接上我了，这是喜事!不过，这玩艺已十多年没玩了，不是因为懒，主要是工作忙，没有时间。要说空闲的话，只能指望节假日，但每逢节假日的时候，又需要把时间放在请客访友上，为今后的工作打好基础。因此节假日，家都很少回，居住老家的母亲，怕已有三、四年没看了，想起来就很内疚，觉得自己太自私、太不孝!

与几位朋友有个同感，参加工作后，因为时间关系，平时很少体能煅练，满天吃吃喝喝的，体形越来越胖，走路都觉吃力。妻儿的要求太合理了，应该支持!不要再让他们为自己的身体担忧，增加心理负担。再说，往年的元旦节老是吃吃喝喝的，今儿少一年也不会损了什么，老掉牙的生活方式没有太大意义。今年答应他们的这个要求，也是偿试一下节假生活的新滋味。

春季到了，那绿色的小草悄悄地从土地里露出了绿色的小脸，树木渐渐地茂盛了，而那迎春花现在是最漂亮的时候，黄色的小花开的那么大，好像显得春季生机勃勃，这季节也是农民播种的好时节，春季出去走一走很不错。

这不，我和母亲换上轻便的春装来到了公园，今天天气很好，天上没有风，公园到处是游春的人类，由于现在是春节期间，公园的大门口可以看见几条威武的龙，好像公园穿上了漂亮的新衣服，更显得气派，再往里走，我看见一排排的桃树和柳树，树枝上长出了嫩绿的小芽，那桃树上长满了粉色的小花骨朵，它们好像想：赶快长出来，长出一朵朵漂亮的小花，让阳光给我们温暖，我走着走着，看见了小孩子最爱玩的海盗船，这时我想起了我小时候玩海盗船时的情景，这时我笑了起来，由于那时候我才五岁，我刚上去开始摇了，我就哇哇大哭只能让停了。

我和母亲来到了动物园，只见动物们正在晒太阳呢，只见熊趴在地上，眼睛一动不动，都懒的站起来看游客一眼，还有老虎，也是一副懒洋洋的样子，它用舌头舔着爪子，近入了梦乡，还有娃娃鱼，它进在水中，一动不动，还有梅花鹿，它们一个偎依着一个，闭着眼睛，还有活拨可爱的猴子，有些小猴子跳越着，有些老猴子给小猴子抓虱子，我恋恋不舍的走出了公园春季不仅给万物带来了生机，而且也是新的一年的开始。

古人说的好：“一年之际在于春”我想在新的一年里学习进步。

Thanks for your last letter. Im so glad that you have been able (at last! ) to arrange a holiday in Australia. As I fear I wont be able to meet you at the airport when you arrive, nor will I be able to be home until later in the afternoon, so here are some instructions and suggestions.

There is a bus from the airport to the city. It is much cheaper than a cab. Take the bus to the city and ask to get off at Town Hall railway station.

To get to my place in the eastern suburbs you have three options. You can either take a cab, a bus or the train. I suggest you take the train, since the airport bus will leave you right at the station. Get off at Cliff Station. From there you can either walk to my place (about ten minutes) or take a taxi. Probably you should take a taxi as you will have luggage.

When you arrive at my flat, ring the intercom for Flat 2. My friend Lillian will be at home and she will open the front door for you and let you into my flat.

Presumably you will be tired and want to sleep. But if you feel like some exercise after that long flight, you could stroll down to Cooper Park, which is only ten minutes away ? you can see it from the window.

I am glad that winter holiday is coming,I have set for itself a vacation plan,First of all I would like to seriously work to complete holiday.Then read some interesting books;Then adhere to a daily physical exercise.Last I necessary to help my parents do some housework,because they are very busy and they have to work very late.
