The book is a little difficult to read at first. Personally, it takes me a little while to get used to the 19th century dialect in the book. Other than referring to persons of African decent in derogatory terms (which Im sure uses terms even young children already know), the book would be an enjoyable read for people of all ages. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to feel young again, if just for a few hundred pages.

American culture is unique because it is nurtured， formed and developed under certain conditions， which are characteristically（特性）American. The major factors contributing to the making of this new nation and the forming of a new culture are the hard environment， ethnic diversity（多民族） and plural religion， which is quite different from other nations in the world. What is more， these elements are still influencing the American culture.

1. Rough Environment

The early immigrants who were English Puritans settled down in northeast part of American. The environment there was very rough but they believed the poor land could purify their mind so they chose the place along the coast. From 1607 to 1892， frontiers were pushed further west. The American frontier consisted of the relatively unsettled regions of the United States， usually found in the western part of the country. 在这新年的第一天——元旦，爸爸妈妈带我去上海游玩。

“妈妈，什么时候走啊?”“你烦不烦啊，快了!”由于我太兴奋，妈妈都快被我烦死了，我和妈妈爸爸戴上手套、钥匙就前往车站。我们上了车，不一会儿，就到达了目的地：上海。

到了上海，我们三前往地铁站，乘坐地铁前往徐家汇，来到徐家汇，妈妈我爸爸就进入了太平洋百货，我和爸爸只好陪妈妈看衣服，这时妈妈说：“你们想玩啊?去底楼玩吧。好了打电话。”我和爸爸刚玩没多久电玩，妈妈就打过来说肚子饿了，唉，玩不成了。我们集中后就去韩林碳烤吃中饭，吃的可真丰盛啊：有牛舌，有精品五花肉，有中翅，还有可口的冰饮。我们点了两盘牛舌(我的最爱)和精品五花肉。我们大吃大喝一顿后，就准备回家了，我依依不舍的离开饭馆，来到车站，上车回到朱泾。

这次的元旦游玩真开心，我将永远记得这个快乐的元旦。
