我盼望已久的夏令营终于开始了，怀着紧张而又激动的心情走进中山大学珠海校区。眼前的一切一切都感到陌生。陌生的环境;陌生的营友;陌生的老师;好不容易拿到了一切证件和书本，接下来是找宿舍。随着拥挤的人群，终于来到了榕园。望着眼前这座高大雄伟的建筑物，想着我将在这里住半个月，我不亦乐乎。经过咨询，才知道我的宿舍在301。我们三步并作两步走了进去。哇，眼前的一切让我感到吃惊。宿舍又小又闷，而且没风扇又没空调，这半个月我要受苦了，真惨啊!但一想：来这里就是要学会独立自理的，又不是来享福，所以我要学会吃苦耐劳!

我们宿舍里每个晚上都有蟑螂、飞虫之类小虫子飞进来，我们都又怕又不知怎么办，只好呆呆地坐着。幸好宿舍里有两个高二的姐姐保护我们，否则我们不知该如何是好。晚上虽然有点热，但是感觉很新鲜，很快便入睡。

我们在这里天天都要上课。从宿舍走到教学楼需要一个钟头。而我们每天要走3个来回，所以想减肥的人来参加这个夏令营一定能减肥成功!我们上课是外教和一个助教上的。上课的形式很灵活，一会儿玩游戏，一会儿单词接龙，一会儿听老师讲故事。我们上课也很随便，外教不会要你坐得整整齐齐，我们喜欢干嘛就干嘛，可以到处乱走，可以下位同其他同学进行英语交流。因为外教喜欢自由，所以也让我们自由。

在这里，我认识了许许多多的朋友，同她们在生活上互帮互助，一起学习，一起聊天。每当我无聊时，她们便会讲笑话给我听;每当我作业不会做时，她们便会一题一题地讲解给我听，直到我会为止;每当我生活上遇到困难时，她们会尽自己最大的力量帮助我;每当我伤心时，她们会安慰我;同她们在一起，我觉得时间过得飞快，觉得十分开心!

As students, we don’t have too much money to buy expensive gifts to our mother, but it doesn’t mean that we can’t do anything to express our thanks to our mothers. We can do something too. People travel by plane, by train, by ship, by bus. To me, the best way of traveling on a summer vacation is to go on foot.

My preference depends on the purpose of the travel. On a summer vacation I travel to refresh myself and to see the countryside. When I use my feet and walk on a grass covered path along a river or among the hills I feel detached from the noise of the city and closer to the nature. And when I travel on foot I get more freedom. I can plan my own schedule. I can choose my own route. I can stop where I like. And I can see things and people that I might miss if I travel on a train or on a bus. net

On Mothering Sunday, the servants, who generally lived with their employers, were encouraged to return home and honor their mothers. In the U.S., in 1907 Ana Jarvis, from Philadelphia, began a campaign to establish a national Mothers Day. Jarvis persuaded her mothers church in Grafton, West Virginia to celebrate Mothers Day on the second anniversary of her mothers death, the 2nd Sunday of May. The next year Mothers Day was also celebrated in Philadelphia.

Jarvis and others began a letter-writing campaign to ministers, businessmen, and politicians in their quest to establish a national Mothers Day. They were successful. President Woodrow Wilson, in 1914, made the official announcement proclaiming Mothers Day a national observance that was to be held each year on the 2nd Sunday of May.

Many other countries of the world celebrate their own Mothers Day at different times throughout the year. Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Australia, and Belgium celebrate Mothers Day on the second Sunday in May, as in the U.S.
