Deforestation removes old growth trees that cant be replaced. Too much fishing may harm fish populations to the point where they cant recover. We are too careless in taking what we want without giving anything back.

There are more people than ever, living longer that ever. So is it any surprise that many areas suffer from too much development? Anyone living in or near a city has experienced "urban sprawl". There is a new shopping area on every corner and new houses, townhouses and apartments everywhere. Traffic gets worse and worse because planners cant keep up with growth. Keeping up with human demand is hard enough. Environmental concerns come in last.

With growth comes pollution. Companies and communities dump waste into water. Landfills are full of trash. Emissions from factories pollute the air. Barrels of industrial waste and worse, radioactive waste, have no safe place to go. If were not careful, we can harm our planet beyond repair.

People need to respect the Earth and try to preserve it. If we dont, what kind of future will we have?

Saving Water

The world is not only hungry,but also thirsty for water. This may seem strange to you, since nearly 75 % of the earths surface is covered with water. But about 97% of this huge amount is sea water, or salt water. Man can only drink and use the other 3% -- the fresh water that comes from rivers, lakes,underground, and other sources. And we cannot even use all of that, because some of it is in the form of icebergs and glaciers. Even worse, some of it has been polluted.

However, as things stand today, this small amount of fresh water, which is constantly being replaced by rainfall, is still enough for us. But our need for water is increasing rapidly-- almost day by day. Only if we take steps to deal with this problem now can we avoid a severe worldwide water shortage later on. A limited water supply would have a bad effect on agriculture and industry. Let me give you just one small exampie of how necessary water is to industry. Animals are our friends。But how to protect them？ government is working to protect all animals in danger，and has made lots of plans to save animals。 On the other hand， we shouldn’t eat wild animals。We should keep them away from our dinner。 That way，there will not be wild animals on sale。 I think the hunters and killers will become fewer and fewer。

Last， we should protect the environment。We should stop people from cutting trees down。 Without trees， wild animals will lose their home。 And we will lose our animal friends。 All of us should try our best to protect animals。

We need to protect animals better。We should give them fresh water to drink。We should make the forests bigger for animals in danger to live in。We should advice people not to kill animals beacause they are our friends！

说了那么多，大家也许不好理解，那么，我说出“盗版”、“冒牌”、“抄袭”……这些词大家可能都很熟悉。这些现象会给人们的生活带来许多不必要的麻烦。我就碰到过一些类似的麻烦。

记得有一次，爸爸想给我买一本漫画书作为我的生日礼物。他在路边的摊子上恰好看到一本厚厚的、封面色彩鲜艳的漫画书。而且，摊主极力推销，又给打了折，爸爸就高高兴兴地买回来送给我。我开始看得津津有味，看到三分之一左右，发现这本书漏印了好几页，我无法把故事连贯地看完，十分遗憾。这就是“盗版”书带给我的烦恼。

如果说“盗版”书的危害不算大，那么冒牌食品、药品、电器的危害可就严重了。冒牌食品往往生产过程不卫生，为了增加香味、色彩，加入一些超标的添加剂，人们吃了容易得胃肠道疾病，甚至致癌。冒牌药品基本起不到治疗作用，延误病人病情，是可恨的。冒牌电器更可恨，这些电器虽然便宜，但是很不安全。容易漏电、爆炸、起火，危害人类的生命安全。

侵犯知识产权不仅让小号者的权利受到侵害，而且，也让知识产权的拥有者们受到名誉、经济上的巨大损失。如果大家都去抄袭、模仿别人，那么，人们就会失去创造的动力，社会就会停滞不前。让我们支持正版，打击盗版，协助维护正当我们的知识产权。

今日，你还能听见小鸟那美妙的声音吗?你还能看见那满地的翠绿吗?你还能看见那清澈的河水吗?如今，地球已经不复从前了，她正在一步一步的衰弱，这是为什么呢?因为我们这些贪心的人类。

因为我们的贪婪，旅行鸟灭绝了。因为我们不可满足的心，鲨鱼被捕获了。你看看那一些灭绝或死亡的动物，不都是我们的“功劳”吗?

地球不属于我们每个人，谁也没有权利去伤害她。她是我们共有的，需要我们共同的呵护、关爱。

水资源是供我们利用的，不是供我们浪费的。现在有多少人因缺少水资源而死的，只有现在去珍惜水、爱护水才能保证不发生这些事情。所以从今天起，大家要做到不浪费水，并监视身边的人做到节约用水。

大家生活中一定有很多可回收垃圾吧，如：电池、纸张……不都属于以上一类吗?所以，大家在生活中一定要做大垃圾分类啊!因为这样，才能保证回收站的人把该回收的垃圾给回收。

大家买东西时都喜欢用塑料袋吧?是啊，塑料袋既方便又美观，谁不爱用啊!可是，你知道塑料袋到底多么不环保吗?它自然分解需要二百年以上，还污染水源和土壤塑料袋不容易分解，一百年都不会腐烂;如果埋在土里，就会破坏土壤的质量;如果把它丢在大海里，鱼儿们一不小心吃了，消化不良，就会死亡……现在知道它的危害了吧?所以希望大家少用塑料袋。

环保听起来是件大事，但是他就在我们身边。需要我们仔细观察，进行修改。说它离我们进，触手可及。说它离我们远，它又不会来靠近我们，需要我们去接近它。

随着科学的发展，各种各样的病毒、垃圾随之增多！无论人类怎样阻止，还是有无知的人，做了一些不理智、不应该做的事。据统计，在地球上，几乎每年有1000多种动物、植物面临的是灭绝。这种现象是由于很早以前，人们没有保护环境的意识，变本加厉，大规模“捕猎”，再加上现在某些人“偷猎”，严重砍伐树木、采摘植物类、花类。这样，动物、植物、菌类等生存的希望就越来越渺茫。人类不仅使某些动物灭绝了，而且和动物、植物等结下了“不共戴天之仇”。在这个生存有60亿人的地球上，因为污染环境的行为时常发生，所以有10亿人缺乏安全饮用水；因为没有安全饮用水，导致2500万人提前死亡。世界城市人口的一半呼吸着被污染的空气，使每年提前几十万人提前死亡。人类这一“自毁长城”的行为，也应该停止了。不仅是对空气，对植物、对动物、对菌类、对环境都是“残酷”的。化学厂品的危害性极大，我们所抹的油，大部分都是化学产品，它对人类有着极强的危害性。

人类不仅对各种生物“打响了灭绝的枪声”，而且，全球土地也严重退化。根据科学家推测，在人类、动物等还没有出现时，地球的土地是连在一起的，因为地球底下水的巨大运动，球体表面的某些土地无法承受，所以，才分裂成亚洲、欧洲、大洋州、非洲、北美洲、南美洲、南极洲。现在虽然不会像那个时候，但是，退化也十分严重，全球每年土壤损失量高达240亿吨，约有700万公顷的耕地变成不毛之地；热带雨林每年损毁1700公顷，约占地球百分之0。9，照这样计算，再过4个世纪，百分率将会达到45%，那么，将会有几万种动物、植物，面临着灭亡，以后的人类就不会看到象群、犀牛、鄂鱼等，为什么要这么说呢？因为这些动物存在到2007年1月，已经有上万年了，近期，在西双版纳的象群已经遭受极大的捕杀，约有200多头大象死在了村民的裂枪下。还有，在美国的一个小镇的一个村庄里，那里的人家几乎每家都有一把猎  枪，甚至一个村就有一架直升机，人坐在上面，瞄准猎物，开一枪。如果是大象的话，至少得开10至20枪。有一头大象，整整开了105枪才命丧黄泉，关于这头大象死亡的过程，引起了许多人的关注，有人说：“之所以这头大象开105枪才死，就是说上天看到了这一幕，上天被人类的所作所为而激怒了，所以给这头大象赐予了一些法力，上天没想到这头大象还是死了，但浪费了人类那可恶的105个子弹。”这毕竟是神话，但是也让人类知道了一个道理：“谁都是为了生存，但绝不能使用不理智和卑鄙的手法，人类绝不能破坏生物链，人类一旦破坏了生物链，就会促使很多种生物灭绝。”以上都是人类自毁长城造成的危机，还有自然现象和人类共同造成的危机：地球资源已经用完了二分之一，但是，还有人不知廉耻，在浪费仅有的资源。

还是那句话，要想让地球“妈妈”恢复原来的面貌，就必须从方方面面做起。别看保护地球是一件十分简单的事，其实，它做起来很困难，谁能天天不浪费一滴水、一张纸、一度电？

就是因为一个人势单力薄，所以我们才发动群众一起来保护地球，我们现在可以从最小的事情开始：节约一滴水、保护身边的小动物、脚下的一根草、节约一度电、节约一张纸；尽量不用一次性商品，保护土地。

朋友们，地球现在的的确确是一个“病球”，我们作为“她”的“子女”，难道不应该为保护地球奉献自己的一份力量吗？要想保护地球，那得花费不少力气和时间，希望广大朋友们肩负起自己神圣的使命吧！

朋友们，动起来吧！这位母亲为我们付出的太多了，让我们成为地球“母亲”的使者，“她”是我们赖以生存的家园，我们应该保护“她”啊！

With the development of industry and agriculture, cars make great noises and give off poisonous gas. Because of population expansion and overdevelopment, resources has become less and less. Trees on the hills have been cut down, and waste water is being poured continuously into rivers. The whole ecological balance of the earth is changing. Massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man’s existence.

We must face the situation that exists and take actions to solve our environmental problems. We hope that all these measures will be effective and bring back a healthful environment.
