在这本书中作者没有用华丽的辞藻来描述，没有用惊险离奇的情节来触动人心，没有用惊天动地的场面来吸引读者的目光，激发读者的兴趣，而这本书中有的只是平凡的人，平凡的事，平凡的生活，平凡的感情。就如同书名一样，一切都是平凡的故事。

未看这本书前，在我的世界观中，悲与欢、生与死、穷与富、世事的变更，都是世界上平凡的事。可是在看完这本书后，我的想法改变了。虽然这些事对于世界来说是平凡，但对于当事人来说，这些都不平凡。

这本书让我对农民重新定义了，原来农民并不是只面朝土地背朝天，埋着头一声不响地干活的。原来他们也是有自己的追求的，这本书中，给我印象最深的人应该是孙少平。他虽然只是一介农民，但他不甘于平凡，敢于向命运发出一次又一次的挑战，其实孙少平是一个悲催的人，他的爱情路不如意，明明与地主家庭出身的郝红梅产生情愫，在被同班同学侯玉英发现并当众说破后，与郝红梅关系渐变恶劣，。明明最后日子都过得好一些了，妻子秀莲却生了肺癌。而他的事业线也十分曲折，虽然前面一段由建筑工人转换成煤矿工人，转换的十分顺利，但是之后由于技师根本不懂技术，砖窑蒙受很大损失，不过好在最后少平在朋友和县长的帮助下使砖窑再度奋起，成为了当地社会主义建设的领头人。

虽然孙少平的命运十分坎坷曲折，但他身上那股子不服输的精神深深地震撼了我，他是一个纯粹的人，他觉得人活着不能光是为了钱，还要有更高的精神追求，要为了自己的理想去奋斗，少平骨子里与哥哥少安不同，他是一个高尚浪漫的人。

其实作为一个读者，你可以把这本书当做许多不同方面的书籍去解读。比如，你仅仅把他当做一本长篇小说来欣赏，因为它里面的情节内容丰富，人物形象塑造的饱满；再如，你可以把它当做一篇学术材料来研究，因为它里面的人物，风俗都是有原型，有依据的；或者，你还可以把它当做一本激励书籍，因为这里面的人物都是乐观向上，开朗大方，遇到困难不退缩，不屈服的。
