Then Dorothy met the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion, but they need help too. The Scarecrow wanted some brains, the Tin Man wanted a heard, and the Cowardly Lion wanted to be brave. So they all take the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. On the way to the Emerald City they met some difficulties, but they solved them successfully. After they met the Wizard of Oz, the wizard gave them another challenge—to kill the bad Witch of the West and they accept. During the way to the Witch of the West’s house, they were caught by the witch and Dorothy was requested to work for her. One day, when the witch tried to catch Dorothy’s red shoes, Dorothy threw some water on the witch by accident and the Witch of the West disappeared. Only water can kill her. So Dorothy went back to the Emerald City with her friends but they found the Wizard of Oz is not a real wizard, he is also a man came from Kansas, and he is just a conjurer. He wanted to go back to Kansas too. So he made a big balloon and prepared to go. But when the balloon is going to raise, Dorothy’s dog Toto jumped away to run after a cat, so Dorothy had to get Toto back and they were left in Oz. Then Dorothy and Toto went and find the Witch of the South and the witch told them they can just use the red shoes on Dorothy’s feet, they’re a pair of magic shoes, they could take anybody go back to their home as soon as she said‘East, west—home is the best!’After Dorothy said goodbye to her friends, she went back to her new home with her dog. It’s really a wonderful risk.

Yes, no matter where we are, home is always the best place for us to rest or study. There are our parents here; there are also our favorite things here. At home, we feel safe, we feel comfortable, and we can relax ourselves.

From this story, we can see Dorothy is a brave and kind-hearted girl. She killed the two bad witches in Oz; she helped the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion to go to the Emerald City to find the Wizard and get what they want. She solved problems when they met difficulties. It’s really not easy for such a little girl.

We also learn that teamwork is important for us. When we are in trouble, we can ask our friends for help, and also, when our friends need help, we should go and help them. Just remember, more people, more power. It’s always better has more people to do a thing. Teamwork is really necessary in our lives.

And we can see the Scarecrow is absolutely cleaver, he understands things, he can think, he learn quickly, and he suggested Dorothy to cut down a tree to cross the river. The tin man has a kind heart, he laughs, he cries, he loves, he feels sorry for people. The Cowardly Lion is really brave, he did a lot of brave things, he carried the friends to go across the river, and he wanted to find some food for his friends and so on. We should learn from them too. When we are in trouble, we should calm down, watch the things around carefully, and try to think out of a way to solve it, just like the Scarecrow. We also should be brave as we are in danger, we can’t be afraid, we should face the difficulty and try to go through it, just like the Cowardly Lion. And we should learn to love people, to feel sorry for people, to make more friends, to get on well with everyone around us, just like the Tin Man.

Yes, we should learn how to get on with other people, we should help each other, we should be brave, we should love other people. If we can do like this, we can be a better girl (boy), more and more people will make friends with us, and more and more people will like us!

When I heard the name of this novel, I thought it was a horror fiction. But after reading it , I find it is a interesting story.

In the novel, dead man’s island was a funny island; there was a dead man living there. The heroine---Carol Sanders started to abandon herself to taking drugs after her father’s death. Her mother took her to a new place to help her forget the past. They came to London. There her mother got a job which took them to the dead man’s island. In fact , it’s a small private island in Scotland. The owner of the island is Mr. Ross.

Everything went well. But Carol Sander found something strange: Never took photographs of Mr. Ross and there is a strange room locked.

Why did Mrs. Ross have so much money to buy a island? Why can’t take photographs of Ms. Ross? Why did Mr. Ross have a room locked?

It’s really absorbing. I want to get all the answers.

In fact, there was a big secret about this island. Mr. Ross was a pop singer in the past. His real name is Jack Rosso. He had taken drugs and killed a young girl when he was a singer. He wanted to forget the past; he wanted to have a new life. So he bought a island to hide his secret. The other people on this island are his family. Actually, Jack Rosso was the “dead man” on the dead man’s island.

All the puzzles have been solved. Carol Sanders and Jack Rosso all had their backdoor past. They all wanted to hide their past. They all wanted to go to a new place and have a new life.

Everyone has personal secret. Everyone has personal past. The novel tells me something about secret. Happy memory makes us happy; heartbroken memory makes us unhappy. It’s right to deposit happy memory and throw away heartbroken memory. Forget all the unhappy things; you may have a more beautiful future.

为了提高自身的英语教学质量和效率,我从学校图书馆借来《英语教学方法与策略》一书,利用业余时间认真地进行了研读,获得了不少教益。

这本书由鲁子问和康淑敏两位专家编写,由华东师范大学出版社出版,可以作为英语教学设计方向研究生教材,也可以作为中小学英语教师设计培训教材使用。我认为在英语学科骨干教师研修班接受培训期间读读这样一本书是再合适不过的。这本书介绍了教学方法与教学策略的相同与差异,提出了教学方法与策略的选择与整合的方法,介绍了英语教学方法的实践操作方法,包括情景教学法、交际教学法、任务教学法和自主学习教学,然后分析了英语教学过程的策略及实践操作方法,并从英语知识教学的策略及实践操作方法、英语技能教学的策略及时间操作方法两方面对英语教学方法与策略的行动研究提供了系统的指导。

编者用六章分别讲了教学方法与教学策略、英语教学方法的实践操作、英语教学过程的策略及实践操作、英语知识教学的策略及实践操作、英语技能教学的策略及实践操作和英语教学方法与策略的行动研究。

本书的优点是:1)语言浅显易懂。不像平常的教育着作,带着很多专业术语。2)内容很实用。书中不但简要地介绍教育理论,还举出大量的课堂活动例子,很适合各个层次的外语教师参考。3)描述很细致。书中谈到英语教学中很多细节的东西。4)编排符合读者习惯,发人深思。书中每一章节都会在适当的位置上安排一个文本框,给出一些名词解释或让读者讨论或思考一个问题。如:请讨论,您如何看待Practice makes perfect.它与数量原则有什么关系?训练中如何把握训练的量?

这本书让我羞愧于自己在教学理论和策略方面知识的匮乏,更让我明白英语教学的成功应体现在“培养学习者在真实的情景中有效使用英语的能力”我是一个率性而为的人,很多时候只是随心而教学,不会严格遵循某一教学模式。所以一直以来,教学成绩都没有取得重大突破,而我本人也一直为此烦恼,这本书教会我许多有理论支持的教学方法。如:语法翻译法、直接教学法、认知法、自然法、社团教学法、沉默教学法、全身反应法、暗示教学法。从书中我悟到了想成为一名优秀的教师必须充分认识到“教必有法”的原则性和“教务定法”的灵活性特点之间的统一关系。教师不应拘于一法一策,囿于一方一圆,而是要因地制宜,因材施教,将各类方法加以组合和调配,在吸收、借鉴已有教学方法的基础上,创造性地发挥,逐步形成富有教师个人特色的教学风格。在教学实践中,我根据教学环境、教学目标、教学内容、学生的需求和自身的教学风格适丰富了一下教学方法和策略,收到了一定的效果。

我最受启发的是书中的如下观点:呈现学习任务时,应当向学习者描述任务中的问题发生的物理背景、组织和社会文化背景。并且,问题的呈现必然是有趣的或吸引人的,目的是引导学习者的积极参与。让学习者体现到伸手可及的成功;教学活动的设置应考虑学习者的兴趣,需要和情感;老师可以和学习者商量课堂活动的内容并建议学习者把他们感兴趣的学习材料带回班上。让我陷入长久的沉思的是这个观点:“personalities and relationships are important for motivation”即:教师的性格及其与学习者之间的良好关系在调动学习者学习方面很重要。文中提到“即使我们不能完全改变自己去满足不同学习者的需要,但我们可以主动了解学习者感兴趣的话题,如:流行音乐,年轻人喜欢的电影,新车,科技的发展等。看到这里,对于学生为什么没有积极参与我自以为精心准备的课堂活动,我似乎找到了答案:设计活动时,我只是从教材内容和个人兴趣出发。当学生冷淡对待活动时,我只会埋怨大的学习环境不好,埋怨学生不配合,极少去思考是否学生对内容感兴趣,是否活动的难度适合学生,课堂指令是否清晰等因素。文中还指出:即使学生会使用老师准备好的语言结构,也明确活动的目的,但如果他们缺乏信心,也不会积极参与…所以,对学生及时得体的鼓励相当重要,借用李阳老师的话就是鼓励学生 “Enjoy losing face. Enjoy making mistakes ”总之,要踏上英语教学的成功之路,进行方方面面的准备工作是必要的,

对于以后的教学,我将努力改变陈旧的教学理念,尝试新的教学模式,自始至终把学生放在中心位置:把激发学生的学习热情放在首位,发挥交际教学的优势。是时候改变沉闷的课堂气氛,还学生一个愉快的学习环境了!是时候彻底解放学生,还学生一个可以自主学习的空间了!

其实,单纯阅读只是一个浅层理解词句的过程,我们可能在阅读中很感动,很受启发,但是,几个星期或几个月后,可能我们的思维又回复原状;若把我们的所思所想写下来,联系我们的教学或生活实际加以变通,可能会更长久地影响我们;而如果把我们学到的经验及时应用在教学中或生活中,我们的学生或我们自己则会终身受益,这才是阅读的目的。“热爱阅读、高效阅读、创新阅读”让我们互勉!

One comment I"ve never heard is that Forrest"s simplicity is almost zen-like. I should read the novel to get the author"s intention （I remember some people preferring the book and complaining that no one at the Academy Awards gave him any credit.） But rather than an implication that you should do what you"re supposed to do and believe in God and you"ll win in the end, I see it as zen-like, i.e., living in the moment and not having expectations or particular cravings （other than his loving Jenny.） (www.veryok.net)So he ends up just stumbling into all the major historical events of the time. Granted, he achieves this only because he doesn"t have the brains to think otherwise and actually have expectations, but so many of our problems are because we do have higher intellect and desires, which ironically makes us unhappy because we know what we are missing. Taking Newton for example, if he had not acquired a lot, millions of apples could never make him discovery the gravity. So if we just keep studying as much as we can, good luck will finally find us and a bright future is ahead of us. The old man never gives up hope. When all of people think he is doomed, he still strongly believes that he will get a big fish. And he does. So never giving up hope is very important to us. This reminded me of the sentence in Churchill’s speech “Never give up, never, never, never…”. “But man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated” has always been inspiring me when I counter with some setbacks in my life. Setbacks are inevitable in pursuit of our goals, but we should never be frustrated and should be “graceful under heavy pressure” like the old man. It is his relentless pursuit that contributes to the victory.

One of the plots that attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.

How can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodnecould conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodneis omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.

For me, the nature of goodneis one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodneis to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodneis an utterly worthleperson. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodneundoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself.

To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodnein humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. Recently, I have read the famous novel “Gone with The Wind” by Margaret Mitchell. Each character in this book gave me a great impression.

At beginning of the book, I think Scarlet was a beautiful, lucky woman. So many young men were in love with her and they always stayed around her. But in fact ,Scarlet was not the lucky woman I thought . She was fell in love with Ashley Wilkes, but the man was not like the other boys around her. when then news came that Ashley would be married with Melanie ,she felt surprised and even couldn’t accept the fact. With the psychology of revenging Ashley, Scarlett married to Melanie’s brother before the day of Ashley’wedding.

Soon after the war broke out , many young man died ,including Scarlett’s husband. Scarlett became a widow. She couldn’t stand the boring life, so when Melanie invited her to the home of Charles’s aunt. Without more consideration ,Scarlett left for Atlanta.

One time hospital hold a party to collect contributions. Then at the party ,she met Rhett buther, the man who loves her at first sight. Although Scarlett didn’t show any good feeling to him, Rhett buther always companied her and made her happy. For several reasons, she married again,but Rhett still loved her. When her second husband died, he asked Scarlett married him. Because he believed that he understoodher and he can bring her happy. After several month ,they got married. Their life became better and happier. Later they had a litte daughter, Bonnie. Rhett loved his lovely daughter just like the way he loved Scarlett. But Scarlett still loved Ashley. Unfortunitily, Bonnie died when she rided the horse. Rhett was hurt so badly that he couldn’t stand living with Scarlett,and he decided to leave. At this time she realised that the man she really loved was Rhett, not Ashley. She tried hard to persuard Rhett not to leave her. He left .I think it was a pity, but it doomed. Although Rhett love her so much ,he could do everything to make her happy, but she never opened her heart to him and tried to understand him.

Although Scarlett’s love was end up with tragedy. But from her attitude for life,we could know that she was a strong woman.she never gave up facing endless difficulties.when the war was terrible, everything was in confusion ,Scarlett had to take Melanie left back to home, the Tara Plantation. Hopefully she wanted her parent’s help. But to her surprise, her mum had died and her father was out of normal. Situation have became more difficult. While Melanie was going to give birth to a baby. Scarlet made her mind on taking on the task. In order to keep living ,Scarlett even went to work on farm ,she planted cotton. Melanie was in poor health, but she still went to help Scarlett to do farm work. She believed Scalett and gave her unselfish love. With Menlanie’s love,Scarlett supported her home,but at this time ,she still didn’t realize how important Melanie for her. In order to solve the problem of the Tara plantation,she married to Frank. In order to make a living she also did business which was unbelievable for women in this time. She struggled with countless difficulties, but she never gave up. She still believed “Tomorrow is a new day”。

Another girl that I loved in this book is Melanie,she was very kind and gentle. She never doubted the relationship between Scarlett and Ashley, she always standed in the side of Scarlett. Although Scarlett hated her and even wanted her to die. She still believed Scalett and treated Scarlett as her best friend. Melanie loved her husband ,when her husband was fighting in the war, she always waited for him. She didn’t have the strength to give birth, but she still wanted to have a baby for Ashley, finally, she died.

These three main characters in the book are all very obvious, but different. They gave me a impression. Scarlett was a plain girl, but what she did was not plain. She didn’t stay silent during the war, she changed her own life by strugling. In fact, many people lost what they have like Scarlett,but they all gave up to strive for the happiness that essentially belonged to them. Scarlett have the braveness to change the situation. But the pity was that she didn’t recognize the real love belong her in time. If she could got deep understanding of Ashley, she may not love him. If she could open her heart to Rhett and understand him, she may realized her love to Rhett. Sometimes I couldn’t help thinking that why the author can write this moved story. Maybe she have the similar experiences.

On the whole, this is a wonderful book, I feel very grateful that I can read it. I could get many benefits from it.

I read the book then watched the movie, both of them ga一ve me great shock, I really admire Meggie,she had the courage to use her whole life to love Ralph, never ga一ve up. She believed that she would love Ralph only in her life. But I don’t like Meggie’s attitude to love, Ralph is a Father, and he mustn’t love Meggie, they really loved each other, but they are not destined to be together. So in my opinion I think Meggie should give in, she shouldn’t fight with God, Ralph had told her he would serve God forever, so Meggie wouldn’t win. Maybe giving up is a good choice. Their love is painful.

Tell the turth I don’t like Meggie neither Ralph, Ralph could not give Meggie happniess while Meggie couldn’t support Ralph to concentrate on his work. So they would not ha一ve happy life, they only made each other feel sad .

Frank is my fa一vorite role. he was short but strong ,and he was one of the main labor in his family. He didn’t want to be a shepherd, but the family needed him , and he must feed he the sheep so that everybody in his family can live better. Once he escaped from home , but it wassn’t long before his father found him and take him home. I feel so sorry that he had a miserable fate. He longed for freedom but most of his life didn’t belong to himself, it’s really a pity .

Frank was different to every man in their home, he loved his mother deeply, and he always helped his mother do the housework. he dreamed to be an outstanding boxer. Frank was considerable, and he always try his best to make Meggie feel happy. As Meggie’s oldest brother, he could be worried about Meggie’s fa一vorite doll, and he even tried to fixed the doll which was distroyed by Meggie’s other brothers. Frank and Meggie would always tell each other what they thought in their deep heart , and they are close friends.

I was so sad when I learned that Frank killed a man and he was sent to the prision. It is really a big shock to Meggie, for Frank was the only one who can listen to Meggie’s secrets. She thought she lost Frank forever. I cannot imagine how painful for Frank to spend dozens years in the prision. He once had good dream about his life, but he had to waste most of his life in prision. In my opinion it was Frank’s father that distoryed his life. His father didn’ t give him freedom, and Frank can’t had strong resistance spirits, and because he didn’t control himself and broke the law.The energitic Frank will never come to us, and he became a man who didn’t wanna talk. He began to be afraid of the world…it is really a pity.

As for Meggie, I think she was a good girl. She was beautiful and smart, but she it was wrong for her to love Ralph. Meggie was an excellent girl, she was able to find an outstanding boy to love her, but she put all her love on Ralph even she married Luke. She married Luke just because Luke looked like Ralph. Meggie wanna be a thorn bird, but I think it was too cruel to her. She was so kind that she shouldn’t stand that king of pain, and I think she was born to ha一ve a happy life. I pity for her.

Both the story of thorn birds and the legend are painful and beautiful, but not every one can be the thorn birds, because it is not our porpose to ha一ve a painful life. We are born to be happy.
